I predict good news tomorrow. It's very un-apple-like to come out and parade themselves around when they don't have good news.

Bad news comes in the form of press releases. Good news comes in the form of executives strutting around on stage.

Of course, it's not a hard rule. I could be wrong. But based on history I'm voting for 'good news' for tomorrow.

You also don't release good news on a Friday. It's called Friday News Dump for a reason.

Its a hardware problem, its a software issue. Its a hardware design flaw, its just a software bug. All bloggers says its terrible, Engadget says it works fine. Worst than 3GS, better than 3GS.

I can't wait any longer for the news conference, aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh

This source is conveniently stating the opposite makes you wonder if the leak was blessed by Jobs. Any prior knowledge of the design flaw will not bode well for Apple in the class action lawsuits.

Well done, Jobs. This controlled leak is bloody brilliant.

After reading all this today I am pretty much in agreement with 99% of the people on here. Why don't people just trust the company? What product line is out there that makes it so people are so distrustful of what they are doing?

But on top of everything else how are people experts on everything here? I've never seen so many engineers in one place...can't we just wait twelve hours and so a little faith in a company it seems we all like their products.

I think it's just the state of the internet in general. Heck you can go read some story on CNN about how someone donated a million dollars to homeless children, but scroll down to the comment section below and it's just a mass of people trying to troll and/or tear each other to shreds.

The insta-engineer thing has bugged me a lot since the iPhone4 came out. I actually did bother to spend a bunch of years studying engineering, and I have also spent a good bit of time in telecom (though not wireless). I've seen some of the craziest stuff fixed via software patches or firmware updates. I don't understand why people that obviously don't have any direct knowledge of the situation can't either take a wait and see approach, or just return the darn thing and be done with it.

I don't buy the story that software can fix attenuation. It seems like they're saying that attenuation has an uncanny way of snowballing through the "complex software," and that somehow, they can stop this attenuation with more software. Maybe they installed some micro-amp inside the phone that the software can activate, and boost the signal back up, eh? WTF.

Who knew there could be so much drama in world of Apple?

No such thing as bad PR for Apple. You are going to see a genius PR worthy of an award when this one comes together.

Also, those that have been wanking with Javascript for the last few years don't know how programmable RF modules are these days.

Thankfully, since the MR forums are mostly populated by cellular hardware engineers, I know this is impossible.

Do you lose calls on your iphone?

considering that my neighbor wasted several hundred bucks for this unfinished toy, i'm keeping my 3GS for the moment

things were much better when Steve was on sick leave

now that he is back, nothing that he touched is working properly

is he testing all the new gadgets himself with his 2 hands before release? (when they are not lost in a bar and recovered by gizmodo) :D

With the new software update never hit below 1 bar, now it just a illusion that you have connection where you dont actually have service...
Probably another update the cover up the whole truth...........
they not going to recall 2million iphone...

I hope CR keep pressing and testing updates to keep the public aware.

If this is indeed true (and I will only believe it until I see it) this is good. However I still predict people will still call Apple a bunch of liars no matter what Apple says here. I can see it already.

Companies always lie. They twist the facts. People swallow. Admitting design flaws in their products in a big NO NO.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 1.6; en-gb; Dell Streak Build/Donut) AppleWebKit/528.5+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.2 Mobile Safari/525.20.1)

Let's all hope the press event changes everything...... Again!

So your answer is no then.

Does your neighbour drop calls on their iPhone?

he does

he is really pissed and is thinking about returning the phone as he got it only 2 weeks ago...

that's why i'm having fun teasing him, but at the same time, i'm really surprised, i cannot believe this whole joke...

a guy losing a prototype, bought by gizmodo, now the (really expensive) toy is losing signal with just a finger...

i will never mock people with Palm Pre again...

and all of you people of knowledge how come we never heard your voice and you theory about how fixable this issue is , until now , you all come out or the woods...

seriously, does someone get fired every time apple announces a new awesome flawless product ? :p

Imac G5 aka iRazor
1-year disposable Airport express
1-year disposable TM
exploding iphone
lost iphone 4
1-bar iphone 4 signal

:D

or is it a new way to do marketing ? :D

and all of you people of knowledge how come we never heard your voice and you theory about how fixable this issue is , until now , you all come out or the woods...

There were plenty of posts along those lines, all met with flames from experts who registered in June and July of this year.

Woz Should buy Jobs a Book

You software writers need to understand some basic radio electronic theory to understand why this is occurring. Unfortunately software can't change the laws of Physics, not yet anyway.
:D
