nice nails.

my roommate went through two phones this year. he didnt pay anything to have them replaced. one of them touchscreen stopped working. ill have to ask what the hell he did to them but hes on his 3rd phone this year and only paid for one.

Your best bet is to try to find a sympathetic Apple Genius that might swap it out for you. Who knows, you might find one that's having a great day or is very helpful.

Another tactic might work but only if you live in a cold climate. You could try to say that you came in from a cold climate to a warm climate indoors and you suddenly 'discovered' that crack and you suspect that the weather might have caused it. It's a long shot though.

i'm dismayed people are encouraging others to make up a story and/or outright lie to get a free phone for what doesn't appear to be the manufacture's issue. it sucks the phone cracked, but that's life. you can't expect others to cover for your damage or normal wear and tear.

someone above suggested being honest and see what apple gives you. but, seriously, lying or making up a scenario is shameful.

live your life honestly, you'll be happier.

Dude,
Let's not judge and let's not be holier than though. You can't honestly tell me that you've lived your whole life honestly, have you? I know I haven't. Just this morning I drove over the speed limit.

I gave her two options. It's up to her to choose. It's just like BMW gave me a car that can go over 160mph. It's my choice to drive over the speed limit. I can't blame BMW for making my car have the ability to go over the speed limit. I choose to do that.

A better analogy would be...........If you scraped your new BMW on another car in the car park, would you take it back to BMW and expect them to replace or repair it for you for free?

At the end of the day warranty claims cost everyone at the point of sale, the more claims that are made, the more everyone else pays.

I agree and you are correct. If someone scratched my car, I would not expect BMW to repair it for free. I would pay for it. Now would I ask BMW if they could 'Goodwill' the repair or if they could discount it, of course I would. On another note, would I be upset if I paid for my repair and if someone else scammed BMW or their insurance and got the repair for free? Nope, what they do is none of my business.

You are also correct that warranty claims do cost all of us in the end but that is not our job to police. Apple probably has a security department for that or they leave it up to the manager's discretion.

I've learned that life is much happier when a person just worries about themselves. It's not my job to police the actions of other people.

Sure, at the end of the day what people do is their own business, it does not worry me, just an open forum and stating my opinion, for anyone who might care to read.

:)

depends how good you sell the story. lol. but on a more serious note, if it really is bothering you, put a screen protector on it, it will cover up the scratch so you won't be able to see it. the protection doesn't hurt either
I agree with xela24678, it'll be hard to convince them alternatively you have the option of using screen protector.

if your willing to spend a little money and try your luck i would do what was said before. A lot of the body protectors cover up scratches so if the crack is minor you might be able to hide it with the body protector (screen protector). But it will have to be ones like zagg (invisible shield) or stealth guards. Those are thick so they hide imperfections on the phone. Iv'e installed many of them and 95% of the time it hides minor imperfections. so do that then go to apple and replace the phone. :D
