Not a bad idea, OP. If AT&T continues to let people upgrade yearly I might just "upgrade" every year from now on. ;)

If you are going to include the microSIM that came in the iPhone, the buyer must follow these manual instructions if they're going to activate it successfully on AT&T:

Make sure they understand that they won't just be able to plug it into iTunes and activate it like normal.

What would happen if the buyer didn't follow the manual instructions and activated it like normal through iTunes?

Yeah.. that is a great question.

Though, since you resold the pre-order on eBay, gjmccag, I also have a short question... I'm planning on purchasing 2 reserved i4s from the Apple Store later today at release and my father doesn't want his now... so I'm wondering if I sign the contract on both in-store (since this is mandatory), but don't activate one of them in iTunes and just keep it a closed box (the latter), will I still be billed the monthly payments for the plans or will I be able to sell it on eBay and just keep the former one which has been opened?

I have heard that there are some ETFs involved here and there which is some cancellation of the contract and costs $325 I believe. You, though, having experience on this... what do you think from your encounter?

Please feel free to reply with your ideas, and thanks. ;)

The micro-SIM that came in that iPhone is set in AT&T's activation server to activate with your AT&T account information.

When the buyer types in his AT&T information into iTunes, it's not going to match what's in the AT&T activation server, so the activation fails.

Give the buyer the link below and they should be fine:

Or take the micro-SIM out before you ship it.
