I reserved the new iPhone at Apple Retail Regent Street, London, UK.

Below the confirmation email you can read following sentences:

Pre-authorization does not guarantee iPhone availability at an Apple Retail Store. iPhone is sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

WTF does that mean? To travel all the way to London to see how a nerd is getting my phone at 7.59am? :D

Apple doesn't seem to know what the word "reservation" means.

Sounds like a farce in the making. That's what you get for holding back people from making orders more than 10 days in advance. Arrogance or marketing genius? Unfortunately I'm tending towards the latter, and don't think even Apple deserve our patience if launch day turns into an almighty FUBAR!

ummm....I got my pre-order in @ 7:41pm pst and already got my confirmation as well for a ship date of june 24th. So dont believe the hype

This means absolutely nothing. I got mine in at 7:37pm PST and on the order screen it said June 24th. When I got my email it said July 2nd (and now so does the order screen).

Just think how launch day would have been if there wasn't a pre-sale. Still can't wait to see ATT servers melt on the 24th when everyone tries to activate their phones...

Got my black 16GB iPhone 4 reserved at the Apple store in Milton Keynes, can't wait to go and pick it up now :D

Took all of 3 minutes with confirmation email received 5 minutes later, was kinda lucky I guess

Good job I only wanted 16GB as no 32GB iPhone 4's were available.

Yep - pretty pain free for me and the missus as well - we will have 2 32GB iPhone 4's waiting for us at MK next Thursday, according to our confirmation emails. :)

Having looked again this morning, MK must have run out of reserveration units, as the reserve link on the website is just a static pic with some text saying that there is limited stock on the 24th.

It’s quite annoying that Apple are only allowing pre-orders for full price SIM-free iPhone 4s in the UK. At this rate, I doubt that there will be any left for those who wish to buy the phone on contract at a subsidised rate as per the US.

This is causing quite a lot of confusion amongst customers, many of whom now think that the iPhone 4 is ridiculously overpriced compared to the competition. Even the carriers were caught on the hop with some announcing that they were planning to take pre-orders only to later announce that iPhone 4 contracts will only be available from June 24th.

It seems like Apple is taking commercial advantage of its ability to sell direct to customers by rationing the supply of iPhones to its carriers, which is a bit cheeky, not to mention frustrating for those of us who were hoping to sign up for upgrades in time for the official launch later this month.

In reserving for pick up at a store, you can opt for sim free, PAYG or pay monthly. I picked pay monthly - that way I can wait and see what Orange and Voda will offer, and if better that O2 (more than likely) I will sign up with them in the store. If not (Pigs might fly) I will roll over my current O2 contract.

I think it's crap that someone can walk up to the store and get it that day but they can't guarantee that I will get my phone on launch day even though I have ALREADY paid for it. They should give their stock to the people that have already bought it and paid, not to someone who walks up at the last minute and decides they want it. AT&T needs to change this policy.

Yikes, okay, so i still haven't gotten an email confirmation and my order still doesn't show up on their website. I have a feeling it didn't go through after all.

Wow...

AT&T has now temporarily suspended taking pre-orders... If you go to att.com/iphone and click the pre-order button, that's what it says.

Craziness... I'm glad I set "fuck this" and moseyed on down to a brick and mortar AT&T store to pre-order.

I have one reserved at the apple store for the 24 th. I was worried about what that meant so I stopped by the store this morning. They lookede up and I was on the concierge list. She said they will have it with my name on it and hold it until the end of the day for me.

So those with reservations, you should be good to go just like a pre order with pick up at the apple store.

My wife and I each reserved one after hours of failing pre-orders and the guy at the apple store was able to look up each reservation easily by our phone numbers as well.
