Apple doesn't seem to know what the word "reservation" means.I reserved the new iPhone at Apple Retail Regent Street, London, UK.
Below the confirmation email you can read following sentences:
Pre-authorization does not guarantee iPhone availability at an Apple Retail Store. iPhone is sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

4. a tract of public land set apart for a special purpose, as for the use of an Indian tribe.
5. an arrangement to secure accommodations at a restaurant or hotel, on a boat or plane, etc.

ummm....I got my pre-order in @ 7:41pm pst and already got my confirmation as well for a ship date of june 24th. So dont believe the hype
Sounds like a farce in the making. That's what you get for holding back people from making orders more than 10 days in advance. Arrogance or marketing genius? Unfortunately I'm tending towards the latter, and don't think even Apple deserve our patience if launch day turns into an almighty FUBAR!
Got my black 16GB iPhone 4 reserved at the Apple store in Milton Keynes, can't wait to go and pick it up now
Took all of 3 minutes with confirmation email received 5 minutes later, was kinda lucky I guess![]()
Good job I only wanted 16GB as no 32GB iPhone 4's were available.
Its quite annoying that Apple are only allowing pre-orders for full price SIM-free iPhone 4s in the UK. At this rate, I doubt that there will be any left for those who wish to buy the phone on contract at a subsidised rate as per the US.
This is causing quite a lot of confusion amongst customers, many of whom now think that the iPhone 4 is ridiculously overpriced compared to the competition. Even the carriers were caught on the hop with some announcing that they were planning to take pre-orders only to later announce that iPhone 4 contracts will only be available from June 24th.
It seems like Apple is taking commercial advantage of its ability to sell direct to customers by rationing the supply of iPhones to its carriers, which is a bit cheeky, not to mention frustrating for those of us who were hoping to sign up for upgrades in time for the official launch later this month.
I have one reserved at the apple store for the 24 th. I was worried about what that meant so I stopped by the store this morning. They lookede up and I was on the concierge list. She said they will have it with my name on it and hold it until the end of the day for me.
So those with reservations, you should be good to go just like a pre order with pick up at the apple store.
That is SO good to hear!! I should check with the store I "Reserved" with.
