iPhone 4 - Unlimited data

I have a 2G for sale for $70 if someone wants to try this. It's easy - and the guy at the ATT store actually did it for me. In store at that! All you need is a 2G and the magic words: Verizon has unlimited :)
 
For this to work, did I have to have Unlimited in the past

I have been debating for a while now whether to go to Verizon or AT&T and have been out of my contract for 2 years. I had never had a data plan before, and finally gave in and went to the apple store last weekend and got the Iphone 4 for AT&T. However, its been a week and im at 65% of my data usage and realized that this whole 2gig thing isnt working for me.

I do recognize that I can take back my phone and cancel my contract renewal and all that jaz within the first 30 days, but I dont want to have to mess with that, so here is what I want to know.

Can i just go buy a 2g iphone, plug it into my itunes, and activate it with my account and get the unlimited (even though Ive never had unlimited before), and then take it into the AT&T store and upgrade the plan again and retransfer to the iphone 4 that I already have.

Also, am I going to need a new sim card to do this, and does the iphone 2g and iphone 4 use the same sim

Hi guys thanks for all the info. I hope that you can answer my questions as well.

I own a Iphone 4 with 2gb data and unlimited text.

1- Can I borrow a friends phone (2g) who uses it currently?
2- Can I use my microsim from my IP4, and use an adaptor to put in the 2g phone to do the activation?
3 Or do I need a new regular sim from ATT and then cut it with a sim cutter?

Once I got through this "activation" screen on itunes, how long to I have to keep the 2g phone activated or on until I can switch back to the IP4?

this didn't work for me.

i've been using an iPhone 4 for a year. just bought a 2G and restored it, and put my sim from the i4 into the 2g. still waiting for an activation email confirmation from at&t. OLAM still shows 2GB on my line.

should I use a new SIM ?

You need to restore the iPhone 2G & use a brand new SIM in it for this to work.

I signed up for verizon and unlimited on june 29th, i received my phone on the 30th and returned it a day later and canceled my account. Now that i know verizon is going to have an additional tethering option on top of that i wonder if verizon would allow me to sign back up with that account WITH unlimted data again since its only been a week.

I think i shall call them now..
