Went to at&t to get a new sim card the other day. They gave me a new one and before I left the store I got the message no sim. I went to the Apple store the next day and they swapped phones. I got a new phone. So far it has been 1 full day. But, they Genius said it is a known issue to him and it seems it is a flaw in the design of the sim tray. But, who really knows. I do not hear apple saying anything on this issue. But, for me 1 more time it appears I will just get a refund and get something else.

Hmm. Same "No SIM" issue here on my iPhone 4 - just got it by FedEx yesterday morning.

I pulled out and re-inserted the SIM - no change.
I rebooted the phone - no change.
I pulled out the SIM, wiped it down and gave the sim slot on the phone a good Nintendo-cartridge-style poof of air. Put it all back together and now I have 5 bars.

I'll post more if it happens again.

I had this a few weeks ago. I called Apple they had me go to AT&Fail and get a new sim...did not fix. I call BAck they set up an appointment for me at Retard bar and they swapped out my phone no questions asked. I was in and out in 5 mins. I was actually impressed with the way they handled the whole thing. The new "black box " phone is perfect no issues. When the guy at Apple handed me the phone he said.."here, we know this one is good".Kinda weird of him to say that but it was my guess the "black box" ones have been extensively tested.

I just got a really weird error. My iPhone 4 was sitting on my desk and all of a sudden it popped up with a little message bubble saying "No SIM card" and showed the same thing where the signal bars would be. I tried turning off my iPhone and then turning it back on but it remained the same. After about 4 minutes the signal came back and all is normal.

Did anyone else experience this?

If it is a network thing I live in Austin, TX for a point of reference.

Cheers.

Are you serious? Have you not had a quick scan through the rest of the forum before posting this??

I have NEVER seen a forum where so many people repeat post the same things over and over again. Mods please remove.

Kind Regards,

Sir Ruben

Yep happened to me when I picked up my phone from Best Buy, they had to replace the SIM card and call AT&T, second SIM card worked like a champ and I have not seen that error come back anymore.

No sim installed???

Hi all

I now have an iPhone 4 and at random times it comes up with no sim installed. All i have to do is switch it off and back on and it recognises the sim. Has anybody else had this or could it be my sim?
