Same here! But will still have to use it anyway, I need two phones... But hell yeah! New phone coming soon to me.

Shame, I'm planning to do a ritual burning of mine, dancing around the flames to release the bad spirits and all that. The way that POS runs there has to some sort of Satanic force controlling it to torture me :p

Decided on your new phone then?

Most probably the Xperia T, would have bought the HTC One X but it looks more childish than the bond phone... :p

And about the satanic force you should be safe now. Because the old phone was a non-functional brick now you have good phone karma. If you can't handle that one-month wait I recommend taking the possessed phone and repeatedly sprinkle it with holy water and garlic (just to be safe) and in extreme cases call a exorcist (PM me if you want, know a good one in town.)

Just in curiosity what's your next buy?

----------

Bear Pro?

Yup, that option has also been scraped now but it is a HTC One clone with the same specs and looks. But as previously mentioned these phones tend to have support, build quality and driver problems.

Nice choice, Sony are getting pretty decent these days and that's not a bad phone.

I think I'll leave it, I want the spirit to remain in the phone when I smash it to pieces, hopefully it won't pass onto the next one :p

Most likely a Samsung Galaxy S4.

Yes, be sure to have a crucifix next to the S4 to make sure that doesn't happen.

I shall now declare here that I made my choice. :p

Going to buy the Sony Xperia T and because I don't know how to change the title and prefix...
Let's just say that this is solved.

go for the s3, it's the best option and after reading your post it can be easily understood that that's what you want us to tell you.

im really curious as to why all the iphone 4 bashing is going on here. Is it because of ios version upgrade tat has made it slower? . If yes, this means iphones get outdated more easily than android devices?

The iPhone 4 has been horrible to use on iOS 5 and even moreso on iOS 6. It's to be expected of course - the hardware is three years old after all - but that doesn't mean I can't vent my frustrations at the crappiness of it :p

The phone has 3GS internals aside from the ram which is over 4 years old now. It's no surprise the iPhone 4 struggles.

I feel as if my 4S is showing its age with iOS 6. I'd imagine the 4 is only worse.

I certainly wouldn't recommend a phone that old, no HSPA+ let alone LTE, small screen, virtually no bell or whistle and hardware that is limited.

Maybe for someone that just wants the bare minimum. Apple still sells it unlocked for a mere 450 dollars (8gb) LOL

Interesting. Even the Galaxy S which was released around same time as iphone 4, still is going strong due to xda support. I cant help but conclude that in the long run, android devices will serve you better due to developer support/custom roms. While i like my ipad mini, i think it might become outdated/slow in less than 2 years due to ios upgrades?

Well the same could probably be said for the iPhone 4 (which btw plenty will argue its still going strong) with jail break and cydia support. Even on an old version of iOS.

The problem generally comes when people lose the JB and can't redo it because Apple forces you to stay upto date.

Its a double edge sword. Apple keeps devices up to date with their latest OS longer then Android generally. However this comes at the expense of performance in many cases.

I agree here, Android has more long term support as long as your phone is supported by the community. I don't think it can be compared to jailbreaking as cynics says because if anything jailbreaking slows the system down whereas dated Android phones have a lot of slimmed down ROMs which speed the device up.

The lack of HSPDA+ and LTE is no joke either, the maximum download speed I get even in very strong signal areas is 5Mbps, but usually it's closer to 2Mbps. Even on WiFi the speeds it gets are half what my Nexus 7 gets (15Mbps vs 28Mbps). And not only does the system itself lag doing the most simple things but it's downright unreliable too. I can't count the number of times I've gone to check a new text and had to wait 10 seconds for the app to open only for Springboard to restart before that ever happens.

I honestly don't know how Apple can get away with still selling these things. Maybe this is why they're making a purpose built budget iPhone.

The thing is - Since apple products are expensive and "premium", they should ensure that the devices they make behave in a "premium" fashion with ios upgrades.

With Android, as mentioned earlier, u get to choose a variety of roms to either speedup or conserve battery or other things.

I find it a little disappointing that a 3 year old state of the art product was not taken care of by apple to deliver good performance with version upgrades.

The bear pro

looks convincing - but it's not metal, it's plastic.

The phone in the video is different to what they're actually selling - it lacks the Bear Pro logo that's shown on the picture on the website. And even if it is legit, good luck getting customer support or software updates or custom ROMs or... pretty much anything for it really.

The specs look awesome for the price but you know the golden rule of bargain hunting: if it looks too good to be true it usually is.

Yeah too good to be true sounds about right tbh. :)

There is kind of a custom ROM for the original iPhones and 3G (also iPod touch's). It is called Whited00r, it is based in iOS 3.1.3 jailbroken, adds some gimmicks and looks from iOS 6, and allows you to download old apps that still support these devices. I have been using it for about a year and I have no complain, it is faster than the stock 4.2.1 I had. But still my friends Galaxy SII can still manage about everything and is faster than mine.

And about the Bear Pro... Well, you get what you pay for isn't it?

Whited00r isn't really a new firmware, it's an old firmware tweaked to emulate a new firmware. All the actual underlying software on it is still outdated. Among other things, this means apps which require APIs only found on newer version of iOS (most apps these days) will not install on your device.

Pretty damn true. That is why I am upgrading. :p

Agreed. There is no way I'd ever buy a knock-off like that.
