Could anyone make a blueprint kind of style version of this?

Effektive-Grid-App_Dark-Grey.jpg

FULL SIZE

I had been planning on doing this for awhile but hadn't got around to it yet. Here it is:

You can find other backgrounds that I've either made or cropped here:

Best thread on the board, thanks to everyone who's contributed! I've got about 30 new backgrounds to choose from now.

I'm a bit of a rock/fossil hound and snapped this one with my phone at Dinosaur Ridge near Denver....mottled gray/tan stone with dino-prints embedded. Works great as my iPhone 4 wallpaper.

Can some one please do this wallpaper in both dark grey and black!?

They are posted on previous pages in this thread. I'm not sure of the page since the threads were merged.

Here are some of them.

Some rocking. Some rolling, pt. 1

Man o man, thank all of you folks for all of these great ideas! I change my screens every couple of days, and really appreciate your creativity.

I can't say that I've read every post on all 100+ pages, but I think I'm adding some fresh ones. I've been indulging some musical obsessions of late, the foremost of which is the year 1971...and yes, I'm a geezer...

Some of these look better as lock screens than home screens, where I've moved app icons around to make room for the pictures. Even the ones that don't exactly work still make me smile, which is the point for me as much as for the art of it.

This turned out to be a lot harder than I thought - aspect ratios and resolution were usually all wrong. You'll definitely see the limits of my P-shop skills, but I hope that you'll find this an adequate return of the favor.

Here's part 1:

1) Jimmy Page, playing the dual-neck guitar he invented to play Stairway to Heaven live, in 1971. (Remarkably, not released as a single.) Currently my lock screen.

2) Led Zep's 4th album, from 1971 of course.

3) George Harrison from Concert for Bangladesh. The album and movie were released in 1972, but the concerts (an afternoon and evening show) were on Aug. 1, 1971. Currently my home screen.

4) The logo from Chicago, At Carnegie Hall. Recorded in April 1971, released October that year. This one has spent a ton of time as my home screen.

5) Fragile was the second of 2 albums that Yes released in 1971. The biggest single from either of those was Roundabout (Fragile), which reached #13 in the US...and didn't chart at all in the UK! What were you people thinking?!?

Stand by for part 2...

Some rocking. Some rolling, pt. 2

1) The Rolling Stones tongue logo, created in 1970, but used for the first time in 1971, on "Brian Jones Presents The Pipes Of Pan At Joujouka." No kidding.

Hey, and The Stones released both Sticky Fingers (singles included Brown Sugar/Bitch and Wild Horses) and Hot Rocks (still one of the all-time great greatest hits collections) in 1971.

2) The Allman Brothers recorded shows at the Fillmore East in April 1971, had the album out that July. The best live album ever?

3) My tweak of the Aqualung album cover. The only single released from that album was Hymn 43 (what?!), which just broke the Top 100 in the US...and didn't chart at all in the UK! (The album did just fine.)

4) Emerson Lake and Palmer released 2 albums in 1971 - Tarkus and Pictures at an Exhibition. This is a poster from that year.

5) Cry of Love was the first of 1971's posthumous Jimi Hendrix releases, and still holds up. Rainbow Bridge followed in the fall, and does not.

Some rocking. Some rolling, pt. 3

And now for some of my favorite screens NOT from 1971:

1) Yellow Submarine is better to look at than to watch, if you know what I mean.

2) And another. I tweaked this from a wallpaper I found, but can't remember where. Apologies to the artist for not giving credit. Kinda lo-res, but looks good at the right size.

3) The lads when they were lads.

4) Dark Side of the Moon

5) Wish You Were Here. I could only find a pretty nasty-looking scan, and am too lazy to scan one of my own. Everything I tried to do to fix it made it look worse...but again, at iPhone 4 display size, it works pretty well.

That's the story with a lot of these. So many of you guys are graphics wizards, I know you could make them much, much better. Like I said, with some obvious exceptions, these were a lot more annoying to create than I thought they would be. But they work well enough for me as is, and some of 'em work really, really well for me.

I have a bunch more, too, but these are my favorites, such as they are.

Again, thanks for all the great stuff you've all contributed.
