really ? was it amazon seller by it self o some seller on amazon?

It was another seller the oem store. I can only find it for 39.99 plus 4 for shipping now. Still a great deal and apple already confirmed my warranty was extended with an email so it's not a scam.

Does Squaretrade send you money before OR after you buy the replacement phone?

i want to know if u buy applecare on amazon.com which says for APPLE IPHONE 3GS , would it work on iphone 4 as well?

Personally, I've never had to purchase extra protection. I dropped my first generation iPhone in milk. It messed up a couple of months later, & Apple replaced it no problem. That phone messed up again, & Apple replaced it no problem. They never gave me any problems about wanting it fixed

My 3G S was dropped in a bucket of water, sprayed with mountain dew, & dropped several times. It doesn't have any scratches/cracks, & the only thing wrong is the accept/deny buttons on the call screen. Accept appears on the right instead of left side. Hah.

I definitely don't think extra coverage is needed, because Apple has been more than great about replacing my phone if something goes wrong.

i have a basic question, if u have ordered iphone 4 from ATT , you still go to apple with warrenty issues? or 1st you go to ATT and then they direct you to apple?

If you have problems with your iPhone, you can go straight to Apple (and often they'll ask for proof of purchase to check warranty info, but not always).

Like almost all extended warranties, its a rip off. There's a reason all the companies push them so much, they're huge money makers. There will be people who post here saying " They replaced my iPhone after I dropped into a volcano, never going without it!", but for the vast majority of people who pay the up-front cost it never gets used.

Its like gambling in Vegas, you only hear from the people that have won.

Can I ask how in the world you got away with getting Apple to do ANYTHING with your phone after dropping it in milk/water/ any kind of liquid WITHOUT an extra insurance or protection?

I ask because my mom hadn't even had her 3G a week before she accidentally dropped it in the toilet and Apple pretty much told her tough luck and sent her on her way.

American Express warning.
I just read the extended warranty coverage on my Amex Card. It is limited to the amount charged to the card.

Unless you are paying full price, or eligible for an upgrade, you won't have full coverage.

I like the idea of accidental damage being covered by Square Trade, but I have to say because of glitches in my original phone, Apple care replaced it 3 times on the spot. I was never without it.

Yes, this! I had my 3g replaced three times--I am sticking with Apple care :)

I think Apple will replace any iPhone (in- or out-of-warranty) no matter what the damage is, for $199 (refurbished). So paying any more for potential coverage is foolish.

If you're lucky, AMEX won't require you to send in the phone on the claim, and then you could replace it for the $199 they give you. Sometimes they don't hassle with wanting the damaged goods, especially if you're not a frequent claimant.

AppleCare has made it relatively painless to replace my white 3G three times for the hairline cracks outside of the 1 yr mfr warranty. Plus a new battery each time (the phones pulled for replacement were brand new).
