depends on what your doing with it too. Downloading popular apps will be very slow right now. There are 2 million new ip4 owners wanting the same app. just wait, it will be better soon

There is a problem with Wifi, but only for some. My 3GS is beating my iPhone 4 hands down at home on my Wifi network.

Here are some recent results...

I'm averaging about 15Mbits/s download but only 800Kbits/s upload. Not sure why my upload is so slow.

Problem solved. Changed my router from the ****** sagem one I had and bam!! Super fast wifi. Now using a reliable netgear

I found the issue!!!!!!!!

I have a linksys wireless n. It was extremely slow. I switched the router to b/g mixed only and now the phone flies.

Just checked my wifi speed on the iPhone 4 , it's all over the place.

Using speedtest.net app It's anywhere from 286 kbps to 4514 Kbps download , I tried same test on iPad I am consistently getting 4500 Kbps all the time.

Was there a fix for this problem ?

UPDATE:- so far so good I changed my wireless channel setting from 7 to Auto (I changed to 7 because I was having problems reconnecting my laptop) this actually re initialises the wireless part of my router so this maybe why I am now getting speeds over 4000 kbps consistently. Doesn't explain though why my iPad was OK ?

I also have a sky router (not sure of model) and the connection with the iphone 4 is very unreliable.

I restart this thread as I just bought a iPhone 4 and noticed that my connection to the router was the slowest of all my connections. This happens to be the same for my brother. It would be interesting se some figures from you what the connection is between iPhone 4 and the router. My setup is a Airport Extreme with a/b/g/n wifi and on the 2.4 GHz. The connected items are:

MacBook speed: 130 Mbit
Apple TV speed: 130 Mbit
iPhone 3GS (2) speed: 54 Mbit/each
iPhone 4 speed: 39 Mbit

The same measurements applies for my brother so please put up your results as it would interesting to see if there are anyone who has a fast connection between router and iPhone 4. I don't think the iPhone 4 should be limited to 39 Mbit.

BR,
J

What worked for me

Here's what worked for me:

1)Turn off the 802.11n, basically turn of the "n" band option (switch it to 802.11a - 802.11 b/g on Airport Extreme)

2)Turn off the guest network on the router if you have a guest network.

3)Make sure only ONE idevice (ipod, iphone, ipad) is running on he router at any one time. Turn the other idevices to "airplane mode" when your not using them.

4)Reset network settings on your iphone, ipod, ipad; go to Settings App > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

If you still have issues then:

Change the DNS settings in your iPhone, ipod, ipad for that router to OpenDNS settings of 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220 or Google’s DNS settings of 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4\n

Good Luck :)

Yeah i just got the iphone 4 and my wifi is extremely slow. I am on my mac which is running fine and loading quickly and i have my old iphone the 3g right next to me and running on wifi 3x faster than my iphone 4. I will go to load something and sometimes it will just stay on the loading screen and i will have to exit out of it and re-enter a couple times. Just annoying, no its not my internet connection its my phone and loads of other people are having this problem as well, im glad im not the only one. Hopefully apple comes out with an update to fix this problem

iPhone 4 on FIOS wifi speed problem

I'd like to know what to do also, regarding my suddenly slowed down phone.
My 2 wifi connected PCs both download at 14Mbs, upload at 5Mbs. My iPhone 4 was at the same speeds, until this weekend. It is now downloading at less that 3Mbs, uploading continues at 3.8Mbs. The attached graphic is from my iPhone 4.
I've done everything from rebooting the phone to factory reset, to no avail.
Is there a setting on the phone that could have been changed that I need to reset, or am I just thinking Verizon is slowing my phone down to sell me an iPhone 5?

I'm replying to my own post, to add fuel to the fire. earlier today, using Ookla's wifi speed tester from an iPhone 4, iPhone 5, and iPad2, all had less than 2Mbs download, and over 4Mbs uploads. both of my wireless Wnidows 7 PCs run 14Mbs down and had over 5Mbs up. Something simultaneously goes wrong with three different Apple portable devices is not coincidence, and Verizon suggested I change my WEP security to WPA2, to no avail. They tested my home's FIOS connection and found nothing, reset my Verizon FIOS router to factory settings. Nothing. Does any one have ideas on this? BTW all devices are within twenty feet of the wireless router and connecting to a server in Ashburn, VA.

Why have you posted over a year after the last post?!?!?

Interesting question.

So late after original post. I've never participated in a forum before. I don't appreciate what I perceive as a negative comment.
And your question doesn't answer my issue. If you have a positive suggestion I'd gladly hear it.
