I've been to all of the NYC stores comparing their display model screens to my "warm/yellowish/jaundiced" screen and 100% of the displays have the cooler white screen. They obviously want to market the iphone as having a cooler color temp but the manufacturer had a huge bad run of lcd's and they're trying to work through it. I've exchanged mine twice and both times ended up with a "warm" screen, the genius is never willing to do a replacement for that issue alone but if you know what your talking about they will eventually budge. Don't bother asking them to open more black boxes, if one is yellow they're all gonna be yellow. I'm thinking in a couple months the inventory of this yellow batch will be gone and the nice white ones will be stocked for replacements.

You're kidding yourself if you think this is true. It's called panel variance.

What about just calling apple on the phone, explaining the problem and having them ship out a new one?

Anyone tried this?

I too have the yellowish screen. It was more yellow compared to my 3GS and when I compared it to my daughters Ipod 4th gen it was the same.

I then compared them at the store and sure enough, mine was more yellow than ANY of the ones in the store.

Sad that I was one who made the initial preorder list and stood in line to get one and its like this....

I have the same screen as you.

But my iPhone has also scan lines and brigther places in top corners.

Unfortunately in Poland there is no Apple Store, so I can't go to that shop and get a new model. I have to send it to other city and hope that they will replace old phone with a new one.

I sent - and what? I have my iPhone back, with default settings...

32gig saga

I just upgraded from 3G to 4. First, I am bummed I waited so long! Very happy with the 4G.

My initial screen was rather yellow tinted. It is subtle enough that you can choose to live with it if you have no other screens to compare to, but if you do it might kind of bug you. Looking at others (16G) at the Apple store it was pretty obvious. I gave it a week of heavy use to see if it dissipated, but could not pick up a change.

So at Apple store #1 I tried to exchange, but the Genius rep said he could not make out the difference. He disappeared into the "back room" and supposedly his manager agreed. Now really, the difference was obvious.

Luckily we have more than one apple store in our area. At the second store everyone agreed it was yellow, and we went from there. The first replacement was also yellow. The second was slightly less bright but the color tone was fine so I went with it--I never run at 100% brightness anyway.

Anyway, I am used to panel variance in screens, but this seems more like different vendors or something.

I think there needs to be a distinction between "yellow" screens and "warmer" screens... Warmer is not unusual. My iPad is fairly warm, but I love it for movies etc because warmer is generally better in that case. Most screens are too "cold."
Yes my iphone 4 and ipad are on the warm side compared to my 3GS and MBA 2010 model. In fact most laptops and monitors I have owned or seen at work are on the warm side

i just stumbled on this thread. I had my phone replaced today, due to dropped calls. once i got home i immediately realzed the screen looks different. It has a brownish/yellow tint to it and doesnt stand out as i remember my other screen stadning out. I dont know what to do...

I received my iPhone 4 on release day and it has the vibrant bluish (cooler) screen. When I got my girlfriend one a few weeks ago I noticed right away how dark and yellow the display is on it. Since I showed her mine side by side she definitely likes mine better (I should have just left well enough alone) ;)

Can everyone who's interested please post the factory code and release week for their phones and whether they are bluer or yellower? The factory code is the first two characters in the serial number, and the release week is the fourth and fifth characters. If I am going to try to get a swap-out I am hoping maybe narrowing it down by the serial number on the box would avoid asking them to open a bunch of boxes and wasting time.

Here is my info:
Phone 1 - Factory: 87, Week: 25, Color: Blue
Phone 2 - Factory: 7T, Week: 41, Color: Yellow

I have a warmer coloured screen. Only got the phone on Friday, I only noticed it when comparing it to my friends and hers seems brighter too and whiter.

Factory - 7U
Week - 37

Is it faulty as I know you get different colour temps so maybe its just variation.

I have also read that in a few weeks it will go whiter as the glue dries that they bond the screen to the glass?

I too I have yellow screen :(. I will give it week to see anything changes. I heard it has to with some type of glue?

I wonder what causes this yellow tint, I was thinking maybe it has something to do with the glue they used to bond the LCD screen to the digitizer or something like that.

My phone also has a perfect screen, I've not had ANY issues at all. It's really unfortunate to read all the bad experiences lots of users are having. This kind of customer experience is unacceptable in my opinion, just glad I haven't had to deal with it much.

iPhone 4 screen color yellow tint

Same to me, purchased the iPhone 4 was bluish tint (my favour) but the replacement is yellowish tint due to original one had functional faulty. Asked to get a bluish tint screen but the second replacement is still yellowish tint. The manager from this Apple store did not want to do replacement any more as stated that there is no function fault.

I was not happy the way what Apple does, if Apple has noticed that the screen display colour would be different due to different manufactures (told by Genius Bar), Apple should label this difference on outside of the box in order to satisfy different users.

Unfortunately, Apple seems don’t care this issue. It looks like what you be given then what you have - no choice. To purchase this one of most expensive mobile phones in the world, I am really feeling uncomfortable with the colour.

To seek a solution, I used to contact Apple customer relations but was told that I have to back to that local Apple store. By end of the day, I had to lodge a complaint to department of Fair Trading for the assistant. I am waiting the result now.

I am happy to see all of the iPhone users who feels not satisfy with the screen colour may work together to write a letter to Mr S Jobs and wish this would be improved in the next version of iPhone. So we can feel comfortable to purchase iPhone 5 with this screen colour problem next time.

I am from Sydney Australia.

Thanks.

This happened a lot when the iPhone 4 was first released and they changed those phones, so maybe yours will be changed.

Good luck with that!

did you get it exchanged?

No, the local Apple store did not agree to exchange. Then I spoke to Apple Australia Customer Relations, no luck. So I have logged complaint to Department of Fair Trading, no result so far.

We should have the right to select what the screen display colour we would like to, Apple cannot deprive this right. It’s not fair. Certainly, if Apple still manufactures bluish tint screen.

Its real shame that apple has switched to cheaper LCDs that have a yellow tint and LED bleeding :(.

I would think you should contact your local government to see if having any relative consumer protection law to seek for if you have had a similar situation as mine. What’s the point we have spent such a lot of money to purchase this one of most expensive mobile phone in the world but end up with this crap screen colour.

did you guys need to bring in ur iphone box and all accessories to get it exchanged? i bought my iphone off someone else with no box and i want get it exchanged because of the yellow screen

Resurrecting an old post. Just got a replacement phone to replace my defective one today. Fire it up, get it synced, and I just happen to be staring at both screens at the same time when I noticed how yellow the new one is. Wowsers.

So now I'm going to send another phone back, the second one in two days!

I prefer the "warmer" colour temperature it makes photos appear more natural.

Stick with it and you will get used to it.
