Friday is Apples normal release date. iPhone, iPhone 3G, Snow Leopard, iPhone 3GS, iPad (international).

iPad would have come out on a Friday instead of Saturday if it wasn't for Good Friday.

3G was 32 days. 3GS was 11 days.

sorry for all the questions, first time iPhone buyer, but is the reaction of the publics need to buy the new phone crazy? like will people camp out like at the original release? haha

People usually go to the Apple store and wait really early. I think the stores opened up a few hours early to accommodate the masses. I believe they opened at like 6 am?

do you know if ATT will get the phones on the initial release date?

I believe only Apple sells them for a period of time.

I'm in the same boat... I'm not the primary account holder and the primary account holder would not be to keen on going to the apple store an hour and half away at 2:30 in the morning. Best bet is to order online, IMO. :apple:

The date is

The date of the announcement is Monday June 7th and the release will be that same week on friday June 11th.
I really hope they surprise us with an iPhone different from the prototypes leaked all over the web. It will be a very boring keynote if they release the same phone leaked. Dont you guys think?

If I had to put money on it I would say the 18th... however, it would be great to release that Friday the 11th... leave WWDC and visit the Apple Store/AT&T Store to pick up the latest/greatest.

They did with the 3GS this past summer. That was where I got mine. No one was camping out that I'm aware of (I was at a friend's the night before and my drive home took me past the store, so I checked. It was probably 11 pm or so). I think (but don't remember for sure) that my store opened at 7 am and let people who preordered in first; I had preordered and was the first of those who had to arrive at the store, so I was in first. Getting set up and getting switched from my Bold 9000 to the iPhone (even with a couple of minor hangups) took something like 20 mins. total. Pretty painless process.

Get ready not to be surprised.
Obviously it will look the same.

Wow, is Steve Jobs posting on our forum?!?!

Nope, he's not. I will bet my paycheck against the 11th because WWDC won't be over and Apple would not release a phone during WWDC. It would take too many people away from the event.

As I've said all along, last year the iPhone 3Gs was released the Friday the week AFTER WWDC. I'm fairly certain it will be June 18th.
