iPhone 4G release date?

That would be awesome..but sadly unrealistic. From past launches, I'd give it at least a week from the announcement to the actual release. :(
 
I'm betting you'll be able to pre-order on the 7th.

That's why AT&T is telling us this now...so we'll know ahead of time before being able to order the new phone.

But I'm sure it'll be 1-3 weeks before they actually ship.
 
might be able to preorder on the 7th with a shipping date of the 18th thru the 25th.

I can't see it going on sale on the 7th when it's announced...
 
While I find it hard to believe it would be available on the 7th, I am now finding myself thinking that this might be a possibility. Why would AT&T announce this change for the 7th, directly correlating with the date of the WWDC keynote address? I guess that maybe it could be just for the pre-orders that might go live that day like others have suggested, but still I won't totally rule it out until the address is done and Steve-O announces when it will be available.

History would show that there is a greater amount of time between announcement and release.

However, if the iPhone has been in production for a while and AT&T is ready, I could see them wanting to release it earlier rather than later on account of the leak.
 
iPhone HD release date

I contacted AT&T today to cancel my service for the new iPhone so i didnt have to pay an upgrade fee which for last year wouldve been 500 for 32gb i believe. And my iPhone ETF is $120 so if the new iPhone HD is going to be $300 for 32GB or 64GB I would only end up spending $420 for the new iPhone. ok let me fastforward....I asked the lady on the phone on At&T about canceling my plan and she told me why dont I hold on until the 18th and see what the new offer will be for upgrading. I asked her does she believe the iPhone hd will be released on the 18th? and she said youll have to find out on the 7th but there is a very very very good chance of it being released on the 18th and she also went on to say call before the 18th and see if you can get a special deal. So my point being is I believe that the new iPhone HD would be released on the 18th and if you look at the past the average days between iPhone announcement and the iPhone release date has always been about 11 days.

What do you guys think of this?

I say save up.
 
I believe it will be the 18th as well just going from the past years experience. The rep may or may not be informed at this point, but the 18th is definitely my pick for the release date. I may have to take that day off work :D
 
I doubt she knows anything, but the 18th is a plausible date. It's not immediately after the keynote and it's on a Friday, like past releases.
 
Or can it be the 11th? Maybe thats why att is changing its rate plans so quickly and offering tethering. Why offer tethering on the 7th when we wouldnt be able to use it unless 4.0 is released and also then maybe theyll release the new iPhone on the 11th..

#2 is what alot of people are forgetting. Staffing needs have to be set and make sure everything is setup like they've done in previous years. I remember the 3G launch went pretty smoothly.
 
Forget the release date... when i read this i was more interested in the "new offer" that the ATT employee stated for the people who are not eligible for an upgrade.
