Since its obvious 50 dollars isn't a huge deal for you, can you lend me 50 dollars?

After you lend him $50, I'll be next in line. I mean it's nothing to you it seems, so I'll take it. I could use that $50 to go towards my next grocery store trip or something. Appreciate it!

I was happy to take advantage of the target deal. Thanks to OP and everyone else who gave advice.

Now that the deal is over...

I saw mention on savings forum that Wal Mart is now listing it for $188 in store *plus* you get a $50 Walmart gift card. $62 savings total. I'm happy I got the target deal, but that is pretty good for someone wanting to save too.

Just FYI......The iPhone 4s 16gb is on sale for $150 bucks at target! With a 2 year plan of course....I believe it's the AT&T one. Can't remember the last time I've seen a $50 sale on an iPhone.....and i'm not counting a discounted price on old phones when they launch new ones....

Radio Shack puts iPhones on sale every so often. They took $30 off a few weeks after the 4S launch and took $50 off a few weeks ago, I think. So it does happen, and I guess if you were going to be buying a 4S to last you a couple of years, I suppose $150 for a 16GB is a good deal compared to the inevitable $100 for 8GB.

Is 50 bucks really that much of a problem for people?

PayPal me 50 bucks if it's not a problem for you. I have a feeling it would be though. :)

I look at it this way. If you woke up and said "screw it I want a 4S I'm not waiting and a contract is fine". Most people are on a contract anyway I assume.

If Verizon, apple store and AT&T are selling the 4S for 200 but target has it for 150........tough argument to say "just pay more for the exact same thing it's no problem".

And for the people that say you're an idiot for going on a 2 year contract someone like myself could say you're an idiot for not just having your employer buy your iPhone and pay for the service. That's an employment requirement for me.

you guys are missing the point, entirely (of course). The point is not "don't get a better deal when it's available at the same time." That would be stupid to say and it's equally stupid some of you think that's what we're saying.

The point is, it's dumb to wait for months and months for the iphone to drop $50 when you are going to pay 50+ times that over the course of your contract. So instead of having the phone last October, you wait until May or June of this.

Obviously, if you weren't waiting at all (ie, you just woke up one day and decided you wanted an iphone 4s and it happened to be on sale), well then...NONE OF THIS APPLIES TO YOU.

But it's my understanding (knowing at least one person like this in real life), that some of the people here wanted the iphone 8 MONTHS AGO, but waited because it was "too expensive" and now that it's $50 off, they are like "SWEET DEAL1111111111!!"

That is who we are making fun of and saying "$50 isn't that big of a deal (in that context)"

lol kinda reminds me of the people that will drive across town 15 miles to get gas for 3 cents a gallon cheaper.

I understand the point perfectly. Would you not care about 2000 dollars off a new car because you are going to spend WAY more then that in operating cost over its life time/finance time (gas, insurance, maintenance, etc)?

It's 25% off for most people. That's more then enough to make people consider it. There's already Internet threads about it. :)

But your last paragraph proves you DON'T UNDERSTAND what I'm saying. It's NOT 25% off. It's less than 2% off the $2,600 spent during the contract.

Yes, 25% the fee that happens ONCE and then a big ZERO PERCENT off the fee that happens 24 times (monthly bill).

SMH.....

Powerbook....glad you were able to take advantage of the discount.

Andross....I totally understand what you are saying...over a lifetime of the contract you spend money. But contract or not you are still paying money to have cell service right? So it really doesn't matter...I've been with AT&T forever and do plan comparison all the time...and all the costs are about the same for what I need. Even if i wasn't on contract the price will still be the same......

Regardless if its a good deal or not, I appreciate the fact that you put yourself out there and tried to save people some money. You could have easily kept it to yourself and not passed the info along. For this I commend you. Have a good day.

Thanks! always on the lookout for discounts!

As of a couple days ago, Radio Shack was still having $50 off iPhones too.

It's no longer in the ad, but I went in there just to look at a couple cases before buying the cases on Amazon. ha.

They were sure to remind me many times that the iPhones had $50 off, but that the deal may end any day (uh huh).

Sounds like the last push to get rid of inventory before a new phone comes out. Seems like everyone is having a promo now....just heard on sprint that you can get $100 off any iphone 4s if you bring in an old iphone. I'm sure there a certain specs to meet in order to get the $100 off but the discounts are out there!

I agree completely. Sales have probably slowed down quite a bit on iPhone.

I say keep the old phones though. They make terrific iPods to have lying around the house.
