Hey, to you guys that use the 128 kbps on the fly down conversion option, I assume you all have that iTunes bug where it incorrectly computes the remaining free space on yor iPhone and won't let you use the last 1 GB or so of free space of the iPhone to store music?

I hope that frustrating bug gets fixed in iTunes 10.5 / iOS 5!

Tony

64GB modules are still expensive and they have been out for some time now. Apple can't still foot the bill to offer it at $299.

$299? That is the subsidized price. They're going to be selling the 64GB for $850. For 2 years they sold the 32GB for $750. In that time has flash memory price really not dropped? We're in year 3 of selling a 32GB iPhone at 750 or 300 subsidized. I saw last year the estimated cost of the 16GB module is $27, not sure what 32 or 64 would be, but I'm sure it wouldn't jump by $100 for each.

Though I guess Apple is just doing what it does best, creates a product that people want and will maximize the profit margins, with the 64GB model having the largest.

I've always purchased the highest capacity iPhone (8gb 1, 32gb 3GS, 32gb 4) but for the 4GS I'm planning to just get the lowest capacity. I would probably even hop on the 8gb if it was another $100 less. I used to keep my entire music collection on the phone but old songs would keep coming up that I wouldn't really want to listen to so it was actually an annoyance. Recently, I would just keep a playlist of what I really wanted to hear on the phone and cut back on the usage of memory. Spotify/Pandora are enough to provide me with variety when necessary. It also annoys me that you can buy a 32GB microsd card for $30 while Apple continues to charge what they do.

$399 for a subsidized phone is insanity. Flash memory prices are falling, I don't know why Apple didn't keep the iPhone 4 at 16GB and sell the 4S at 32GB/64GB for $199/$299.

I know why. Because they will still sell tons of them at those prices. I don't enjoy paying that much either, but if you want the reason this is it. Because they can.
:)

They're only about $80 for us to buy them. I'd suspect they would be much cheaper for Apple. But, instead of a 20% profit margin if they sold 64GB at $299, they get about 150% margin on the $399 price. So, I don't fault Apple for selling them for that much. I wish we could add out own memory cards to the iPhone.

I must say it is very tempting! Not sure, but all the movies and music storage would be cool. Is anyone absolutely getting the 64gb?

Yeah, iCloud storage blah blah blah but is anyone sold already on 64gb model?

64 GB, White on Verizon for me

+1 here, in white (at last).

64Gb is what i was wanting last year, so im glad its here now.

I'm paying £699 for an unlocked 64GB!! I was looking on Amazon and sandisk are releasing a 64GB micro SD card that's down for £165! So paying £200 more for the 64GB over a 16GB seems alright... to me.

Would have still preferred them to drop the 16GB and go 32/64 but I'm just glad they have a 64GB option!

I'm getting one.....if no one else wants to pay the price good.....less chance I won't get one on launch day.

I was about to say the same thing. For those like me that will buy without paying much attention to the price it's great that it's not popular (but it will be). Much better chance of getting it early!! :D
