Replacing battery
I just ordered the tools to replace my battery on the iPhone 4s.
One thing I have noticed: During the 4s production period, Apple made minor changes to the internal firmware. Obviously Apple has different replacement battery numbers. In the best case those numbers should match which means to replace the exact same battery only. If the battery revision is different, there might be a small loss or difference in available power.
I found a battery retailer that offers those, Apple battery versions range from
APN 616-0579 - APN 616-0582. Problem is, there is no way to find out which model is in the phone unless you open it. For me, I have ordered the opening tool and will order the battery when I know which rev. I do need.
For one of the previous post, I guess that might be the reason for a minor difference in charge capacity.
Unfortunately the battery retailer is German, you may look for a different one in your area.
