If i put my new iPhone 4S in my home before i go to sleep for my alarm in the morning will I eventually overcharge my battery and decrease the battery life?

No it's not. They won't overcharge, combust, decrease battery capacity, or any of that other stuff that you may have heard. (at least on modern phones)
