I'm a little disappointed with the next generation Iphone that they never added these features:

Duel Lead or Xenon flash.
Wide angle lens.
Scenes, landscape

probably many more features from previous camera phones or digital cameras but if they want it to be the best 8MP camera why not even make an app for all these functions?

The Iphone light is good but it's still not a proper flash is it?

they added a notification feature for the flash which is the stupidest thing I've ever seen or heard of.

i heard it's not even going to be compatible with my nikon lenses. apple really screwed this one up.

Really - the stupidest thing you've EVER heard of? Heck, it's not even the stupidest thing I've heard of since starting to read this thread!

It's an Accessibility feature - deaf people will find it very useful.

Have you never used or seen a blackberry?

I don't think anyone is questioning the usefulness of a notification LED. Using the flash for that purpose, however, is a bit whacky.

I wish the phone had an LED on the front, or better yet, have the home button act as a notification light.

A wide angle lens with Xenon or dual LED flash would work great on the iPhone, and isn't as outlandish as you may think. There are several high end Nokias with these specs and they produce fantastic shots.

The BlackBerry notification light is very well implemented, I don't think anyone is doubting that. The "notification light" on the iPhone uses the camera flash so is extremely bright and not as functional. It's more for accessibility than anything else.

Perhaps in the future Apple will add a real notification light to the front of the iPhone, maybe even by illuminating the home button.

That's fine and that's your choice. But understand that it is not meant to be a full featured CAMERA so you shouldn't expect it to act like one.

That's what Apple were selling it as in the iPhone 4S keynote: a competitor to point and shoot cameras.

To be fair, I can fully intend for this to be a Frisbee for my dog, but it's main function is still a phone.

They aren't marketing it as a replacement for your frisbee. And I would bet that the phone function isn't the feature used most by the majority of users. Also don't mistake any of this as me agreeing with any of the OP's silly criticisms.

I disagree. A lot of people, when they set their phone down, place it face down so the notification on the back is more practical. Installing lights on the home button is more hardware around one of the few "moving" parts of the phone. Unnecessary.

It's a phone, not a camera!

Ever heard of camera phone? I got my first one in 2003. 😀

And to be fair many will use it as a camera and the main thing is it will have good video and mega pixels but they could have added much more.

OMG! ROFLCOPTER ON the DUEL LEAD flash.

1. Wants to take a picture.
2. Waits for the Lead Xenon's to finish fighting.
3. Phone breaks itself from the battle.
4. Worst. Camera. Ever.

Did the Pixon 12 phone not have ALL of these? can't remember but the last decent 12MP camera phones were great all fully loaded with features and Nokia released a very good one not long after.

I prefer Xenon flash.

The photo light on the Iphone is very good but creates warm colours a Xenon flash would really light a room up.

There could possibly be other disappointments with the 4s but if you think this is an issue, you dont deserve to take pictures

My IQ just lowered a few points by clicking on this thread. I was fully expecting an actual hands-on review of how the camera handles. Boy was I wrong. And to the dude who said this was going to be their only camera, well, my past few iPhones have been the only phones I've had. Despite this I still manage to get by.
