Of course they'll buy it so many people's sense of self worth revolves around having the newest apple toy

We'll AP_Piano295 least it's not like ANDROID "KNOCKOFFS" where you have to buy A WHOLE NEW PHONE to upgrade the OS. Android Sucks period! That's why Apple, is just apple, and we luv it! :D

Actually I think a commercial best but it about non-apple users, no need for anyone to say. :)

Yeah dude my 3g runs iOS 4 flawlessly

I agree, it's definitely fallen behind Android in all areas such as units shipped (for a single model), revenue, profits, market capitalization, available apps, user experience, integration...

Are you a geek or a business drone?

People willing to run for "a larger screen" and "hdmi out" and "swappable battery" and "sd card" have plenty to rejoice (apparently), and also have plenty to choose from.

People settling for a mature environment, for edge technology integrated into a VERY satisfying overall experience, for a great tech product - we are served.

And soon enough, a 4 to 5" iPhone 5 will be out, and those up there will still be seeking "How do I cram Android 3.7.25 onto my machine?" only to realize that they will have to buy the new Samsung Whatever XVII in order to be (barely) above Apple's tech specs at the moment.

Hmm, nothing remotely negative in this article. Let's sit back and watch how today's regular release hate-squad tackles this one...

Oh right, by ignoring the article and posting the same tone-deaf complaints from every other topic on the forum.

I'll be looking forward to Siri in my next iPhone. That's something I can't say about any voice service I've seen Android users fumble with (typically once or twice before giving up).

It's been so long since the update to the iPhone 4, and now all we're getting is this? I hate to rant but Apple is falling behind.

I wonder what an unlocked version will cost and how well it will work on T-Mobile's network (Don't they use HSPA?)

Both AT&T and T-Mobile use HSPA+ for higher speed data.

The specs on the iPhone 4S show that it still doesn't support T-Mobile's 1700MHz frequency.

First time I am not compelled to run out and get the new iPhone. Think I'll stick with my 4 for now. HOWEVER, I do like some of the upgrades they made.

I'll bet there will be no shortage of 4S phones this time around. Walk in and buy. No lines.

But that's my guess. :)

i can't believe they're still selling the 3gs...

the service is what costs a ton, so if you can't afford a regular 4 - it's probably a very bad idea to commit to a 24 month contract...

Apple just needs to learn to lower customer expectations.. the rumors were absolutely crazy over the iphone 5. All Apple needs to say is... "We're sticking with the same design, but the internals will be upgraded significantly" and leave it at that.... Is that so hard?

Is that really the only reason you feel the iPhone has fallen behind?

How else has the iPhone fallen behind?

Honest questions. I understand people wanting a bigger screen (although, the iPhone size is ideal, since it just about allows 1 handed operation for me), but in what other way is the iPhone "behind"?

1. LTE
2. Removable battery
3. Screen size
4. True multitasking
5. Themes - this one STILL baffles me

That good enough? I could go on...

6. 1280x720 330ppi SAMOLED+ HD display on the prime coming (already on the Galaxy SII v2 coming out shortly in Europe
7. Flash support

The only one I didn't get was the 3G, it was no big deal at all!

As to why there was no 5, I obviously do not know. Perhaps we were never supposed to have a 5 now or, alternatively, one rumour that there were design and manufacturing issues with the 5, resulted in them deciding to play it safe and go with an upgraded 4S. Thus the 4 month delay. It is all irrelevant now except for when they will bring out the 5. I am guessing it will be announced in June and not October 2012.

So, now Apple will carry 3GS, 4, and 4S? What is the word I was looking for? Oh yeah - fragmentation! Delicious irony is delicious :D

There are less instances of app incompatibility among iPhone models than there are among Android devices.

All 3 currently offered iPhone models will run the latest OS. That is NOT the case when it comes to Android. Hell There are some Android phones that release with the previous version of the OS despite a new version being available.

Fragmentation STILL is NOT an issue for Apple.

there's only 1 question Siri needs to answer correct to prove it works flawless.

Who shot first?

I'm fairly amped about iOS5 for my now badly out dated, moldy old iPhone4. I'm looking forward to some of the new features, which sound pretty good.:)

Since my VZ contract isn't up until 2012, I would be waiting for the next iteration anyway.

Sorry to be so positive - I didn't mean to break the mood. ;)

Am I the only one that isn't eligible to upgrade until Nov 18th? I can't remember when the iPhone 4 was launched but I would like to think that many people that have been dedicated iPhone users won't be eligible to upgrade to the 4S without paying for it outright...

What a lame upgrade. Apple has fallen so far behind Android it's not even funny. Where's the iPhone 5 with the bigger screen?

I'm afraid I'll have to agree with you on this one. Just look at the android releases coming in the next couple days. Tmobile is releasing the HTC Amaze, 4.1inch screen Dual core 1.5ghz processor with 1gb ram. 1850mah battery capable of something ridiculous like 25 days of standby and 9-10 hours of talk time. All this with 4g built in and not having to pay the "iPhone" tax which seems to run about $40-50 per month above other companies for being on att/verizon versus paying anywhere from $35-$60 per month for very similar minutes, text, data plans from other companies.
