Siri on iPad 2? Apple should support it, it's the same memory and CPU.

iPhone is always behind in adopting new infrastructures, even back in 2007 without 3G support

Removable battery is not an option for apple products anymore, even for MAC!!!

Galaxy packs in just 800 * 480 pixels in a screen larger than 4in, in terms of that, who is left behind?

Come on, flash? 330pi(going above 300ppi is necessary, but further? I do not see the point but just waste more power)

In addition, it cannot install Android, WP7 and WebOS

1. LTE
2. Removable battery
3. Screen size
4. True multitasking
5. Themes - this one STILL baffles me

That good enough? I could go on...

6. 1280x720 330ppi SAMOLED+ HD display on the prime coming (already on the Galaxy SII v2 coming out shortly in Europe
7. Flash support

I don't want to get into what the new iPhone should or shouldn't be. But I'm curious what all of those cases that were leaked are for. Was it misinformation, or just pure speculation on the case makers part? Either way I'm a satisfied iPhone 4 owner and won't upgrade to the 4S. iOS 5 will be enough for me this year. I just hate that the iPhone refresh has been pushed back which means my next iPhone will be in the fall instead of the summer like the 4. Ah well have fun 4S owners!

What a lame upgrade. Apple has fallen so far behind Android it's not even funny. Where's the iPhone 5 with the bigger screen?

Lol what?

In the scheme of what most consumers want from a smartphone, a bigger screen is way down the list

Yeah dude my 3g runs iOS 4 flawlessly

Are you a geek or a business drone?

I always am reminded of the cognitive miser-nature of humans on this forum. "Give me a label, so's I can judge sumthin!" The power of labels is staggering, and mental lethargy.

I think as we've all known deep down, iOS 5 is the real update here. Those in the market for an upgrade or new phone, this is a heck of a phone. It's also understandable why many people are disappointed today because the extra delay from a yearly update got people's hopes up a bit for some physical changes (ie bigger screen). I personally don't see anything exciting enough about this new device to upgrade from my iPhone 4 with iOS5. A new physical design phone with larger screen and/or LTE would have caused a lot of people with 4's to upgrade even out of contract, whereas now they will stick it out.

Two annoying things to me about today's events....the find my friend feature. I can't stand when things like that are presented like they are some magical new idea. Also Sri, as neat as it seems, I absolutely don't buy it that it somehow can't function on an iPhone 4. It's an obvious attempt to at least pickup some iPhone 4 owners who want to upgrade for that latest/greatest feature when it would work just fine on an iPhone 4. If you take away Sri, there really isn't much reason for an iPhone 4 user to upgrade at all unless you need a 64 GB phone. But hey...it's a business....I understand why Apple doesn't put it on the 4, but it still annoys me.

Alas, I'll keep enjoying my 4 especially with improved notifications! Looking forward to a future bigger screen and LTE.

I totally agree with you that IOS5 is the real news. The spec upgrade itself is nothing special. Regarding Siri, I only partially agree with you. Siri can work in the iphone 4 like you said, but the performance will not be great. I have noticed that Apple has no problem cutting any features that doesn't perform to their standards or fit into their philosophy.

Siri might be the most industry-revolutionizing thing since the original iPhone itself. If you believe the iPhone has fallen behind, you don't understand Apple's goals at all. They focus on software, battery life, and integration into the ecosystem, not hardware. IOS is the best and always will be. The major announcement was Siri and would still have been the chief feature even if the hardware had been changed.

It was great when it worked on other phones before apple bought it.. they haven't done much that wouldn't have been done in the time since.. except allow calls to private api's

Judas, siri performed great on the iphone 4 - there was never a problem with that.

I think a lot of people just never used it before apple bought and removed it from the store.

agreed.... i might have to go to an android forum for a while.... the blabbering about the specs is getting nauseating...

Than why does my 1 year old Evo do the same thing? "industry-revolutionizing" No sorry.....

At first I was disappointed to hear "4S" but this is a damn fine upgrade. And 64 Gigs? HELLO! That is WINNING! I've been wanting that for a long time. Siri is bitchin as is the A5. Would've loved to have more, but Apple is nothing if not incremental.

No, I got outstanding turn-by-turn GPS for $15 (sometimes more, often on sale for $20): Navigon MyRegion (now owned by Garmin). There are cheaper, even free, options too.

And a real Navigon/Garmin/TomTom app does something Android’s free directions won’t do: work without a good cell signal! What good are driving directions if they cut out when you need them most?

you never used a android phone or you wouldnt say that.

The first person to make a sexy female voice plugin for Siri is going to make a ton of money (assuming new voices can be added, of course). :)

lol I was just thinking the same thing.

I was listening to the BBC vid posted and it sounded like a male voice. I thought Siri was a female voice?

If you want to know why we're all so upset

I have a 3GS which I dutifully went out and purchased in June of 2009.

In February of this year, I became eligible for an upgrade. I said, no, I'll wait.

Verizon iPhone came out. Me, who gets no service in my apartment on said 3GS, said no, I'll wait.

White iPhone came out. I said, no, I'll wait.

June came and went. iOS 5, but no iPhone

At this point, my mute button no longer works and my back case is cracked, making it almost impossible to sync on a non-dock. Best Buy would not fix it - as my warranty ran out exactly two years after I purchased the phone

July came and went

August came and went. My backlight burnt out due to being caught in a monsoon. So now, in addition to not being able to mute the phone or sync it in my car, I have to use a flashlight to read it (yes, I know I can fix it, but I am a very busy woman and just have not yet had the time to do so).

September came and finally a glimmer of hope that I will finally be on the right cycle for the freshest upgrade.

Nope. Unless I would like to wait another year to see the actual iPhone 5, I am now stuck on the -S cycle.

That, my friends, is why a lot of people are annoyed.

So, now Apple will carry 3GS, 4, and 4S? What is the word I was looking for? Oh yeah - fragmentation! Delicious irony is delicious :D

The 3Gs, 4, and 4S will all run iOS5, and the exact same version. Contrast that with a brand new Samsung 4G phone that's still on 2.2 that a co-worker just bought, 2.3 on some phones, MotoBlur on some, Sense, plain Android, etc.

See the difference? Good.

The Motorola Droid I had came out in October 2009. The 3GS came out in June of the same year. the 3GS is getting iOS5......is the Droid getting 2.3? Ice Cream Sandwich? Not likely.
