Sold 20 Shares today

I bought 40 shares when Apple was around $102.00 I sold half late this afternoon and made about $6,100 after paying off the stock broker and fees. I was kicking myself a few weeks ago when it hit 418 and didn't sell before it went down to 375. I told myself if it went back up to 415ish I would sell.

Well 4G is where I am and many Android phones have it. Why wouldn't you want that option if you could turn it off if not needed? Because Apple tells you that? And I do like phone core speed but "slightly faster" doesn't a lot of significant real usage practicality. Much more important is screen size and internet speed.

What other posts are you talking about? I'll respond if you readdress what points you want me to respond to.

The tech isn't ready for prime time. Apple isn't going to adopt 4G chips until they can perform as well in all categories as the current 3G chips do. The latest 3G chips are actually probably more advanced then the latest 4G chips because they have had time to refine that technology. The 4G Android phones are just gimmicks right now. We'll probably see real 4G phones next year. People said the same things about 2.5G phones when 3G just came out. When the chips were tested by reviewers, they discovered why Apple was sticking with the 2.5G chips. Apple doesn't do gimmicks. Too bad that isn't the same for most of the other phones out there.... I won't even comment on the Rhyme...

4g eats up a lot more battery life and where i am there is wifi practically everywhere , sorry my bad we do have 4g.Right regarding screen size this one is personal preference I do indeed wish the iPhone would get an 4.0 inch display but that would require a bigger size for the bigger battery. Also what I would like to say is your points are completely valid and it depends on the person so if you would say in my opinion such and such that way it clarifies that this is what you personally think because for some people screen size isn't important compared to quality of the apps if the apps are perfect on the 3.5 inches so be it.Once again sorry for possibly being rude in my other responses.

Yeah I could almost get by on Wifi only on my phone... At home, at my mate's places, at school, at McDonalds there is all Wifi I can use. ;) If iMessage could send messages to phones other than iOS5 ones I'd get an iPod Touch instead of an iPhone!

Right - so everyone else who owns a 4G 4.5 inch Android phone is an idiot. Even though I KNOW those people (and probably you do as well) and their phones are way friggin' cool. Get over it - you're delusional. :p

again!!! you are trying to turn opinion into fact you may think 4.5 inch screens are cool but the rest of us don't and the other guy is right 4g is not ready for prime time

Where do I say "fact"? It's my opinion. Never said differently.

The market place saw the product, and agreed it was very good.

The initial disappointment that there was no iPhone 5 evaporated as analysts saw that the iPhone 4s was more than just a slightly adjusted iPhone 4.

Other companies would probably have called it the "5".

How can they not. iOS 5 is a sweet os even on the iPhone 4 its smoother and fast than iOS 4 was and with the iPhone 4s its going to run like a race horse.

but even more in about 12 months we are going to see iPhone 5 which we all now know will be a game changer considering iPhone 4 has bee.

android is fine for those who like windows want cheap equipment raped up in a plastic box of poop. but for the richer crowed that makes up apple buyers why would we settle for less when apple still keeps delivering.

Android has gotten better but still if feels like windows xp on a phone. MS is again putting bloatware on their to be phones and tablet so who is left not HP which we where hopping for that was a joke.

No Steve may be gone but his spirit inside the company is still there and the key people in the company are a bit just like him.

Apple is not going to disappoint us for another decade or two can't say after that what will happen.

Now lets imagine the iPhone 5, iPad 3, appletv 3... the list goes on and one. So who here is drooling for windows 8. Downloaded it and had a good laugh at how bloated it was with what you have to do for simple stuff. :apple:

iPhone for rich crowd? People were buying Motorola cell phones for $200 just a few years ago with a contract. And with smart phones, it's not the phone that gets ya, it's the monthly service. Yeah, you might get an android for half the price, but What's a hundred bucks savings off a 2 year $50/month data plan increase? My wife went that route and saved $80 by going with an atrix pos. We could be messaging and facetiming but no she had to save $80. If you can't afford the $80 you probably should be paying for a data plan in the first place.

I bought-in 2005 when it was 36.81, and had something like 700 shares at the time. Now I'm down to 550 with other investments in lesser companies.

If only Apple could pass 750 by New Years ...

They had to make 'em that big to fit the battery and figured they should probably put a big screen on there or they'd look strange. :D

I think Apple wants a fairly consistent product across carrier lines. Other companies make different phones for each carrier so it's not an apples to apples thing. AT&T doesn't have LTE speeds yet. And they'd have to change the form factor or make it thicker to go LTE on Verizon and keep same battery life. From a design perspective all the pieces just weren't there and Apple isn't willing to compromise. When they do, they'll lose the value in their products.

I guess big phones are nice. I mean, for the first ten years we were all about shrinking cell phones from 5" to 2". Now we are trying to make them bigger again. I don't quite get it. My wife's Atrix is larger, and it's getting to the point that I can't hold it with one hand and type with my thumb like I can with iPhone. I could even see them making a nano phone that's basically a phone and music player. You can bet however, that with siri, there are plans to remove the keyboard function or enable higher functions on things like a nano that would normal require keyboard input. Things are getting very interesting.

Um..It's called the ecosystem. I have about 300 DRM protected TV shows and movies that I don't want to have to replace. Simple really. I've invested in the iPhone expecting it to keep pace. And I get pissed when it does not.

I bought the 4S simply because of the fact that it had 64 GB and my ties to the DRM protected content. If the next iPhone does not keep up with the competition next round, I'm switching and eating my losses.

You sir are the moron for caring more about COMPANY than the PRODUCT. It literally makes absolutely no sense. Sit back and think about it before mindlessly responding. I like my Sanyo microwave a lot, but I could care less what Sanyo does as a company. Yeah - think about THAT for a minute and see how crazy it would seem if I did. That's you.

Tony

An interesting discussion, so let me ask you this:

Where do you see Android after NFC and LTE? What's the next must have tech? A 5 inch phone?

All I see is a race to the bottom for Android OEM's, ie, a profitless future for all but one or two OEM's (Samsung and HTC would be my guess).

Meanwhile Apple continues to build out the world's premier supply chain and quite possibly the premier media cloud. At any one time, Apple has three phone models in production, each a generation apart, with updated externals every other generation. The production of a single generation over three years brings higher reliabilty and lower cost, and that gives Apple a substantial profit advantage over Android OEM's that must constantly compete for technophile approval of models that are ultimately shortlived.

It isn't hard to predict that the next iPhone generation will get LTE and the TSMC 3D/28nm process for the A6, and probably a quad core ARM design at that. Presumably only Samsung has a fab that can compete on price with Apple, but every other OEM is at the mercy of ARM suppliers like TI, Qualcom and Nvidia.

Steve once said that Apple would wait for the river to come to them, and it's easy to see that in action with the iPhone product line. Apple isn't going to adopt technology before it has matured, and certainly not before it is available in the quantities that Apple requires. For some out there, Apple not being on the bleeding edge of specs is unacceptable, but I find it pragmatic.

Apple will at times, however, adopt and run with disruptive technology as it makes sense. Apple certainly will continue to have an advantage in financial resources to make that happen.

Did you fret about how outdated or underpowered your Sanyo microwave was on the sanyorumors.com web site?

In 3-6 months after this hub-bub has died down, Apple will not be able to compete in the Smartphone market with an already dated iPhone 4s. The hype has inflated the stock. It's at it's peak. Sell now!!

Why is it exciting to you? Are you an investor?

Tony

Let's talk when there's an Android phone that has a feature like Siri. Also, before you dismiss Siri, here's a history lesson for you. Siri was a DARPA project called (Cognitive Assistant that Learns and Organizes). It is rumored to be the largest artificial intelligence project ever.

Also, if you think Apple is at its peak, why don't you short the stock? You can make some money on betting against Apple.

Oh, Tony, my Lionheart! Your posts have brought me such untold realms of joy. Witty. Insightful. Prescient. Sublime, even. Wherever would we be without you? Oh, Elysium...

Know this, little warrior, as you rub the sleep from your eyes upon awakening this morning: I have savored your commentary as one would savor a finely aged single-malt, served in the shoe of a dead hooker left to rot in a field under the waning autumnal sun.

~ghibby!

And for all of this we have Mini-Steve.Jobs (ie Scott Forstall) to think for this.
Forstall was the one who insisted Apple buy up Siri and was the one acting like uncompromising assholistic perfectionist. A pain to work with. Makes many enemies.

But it does make the best smartphone the world has ever seen.

Did you fret about how outdated or underpowered your Sanyo microwave was on the sanyorumors.com web site?

If Sanyo only produced one single type of new microwave model and that new model WAS underpowered and not current with the competitors' feature set and an important portion of my food could only be microwaved using Sanyo's microwaves and Sanyo had fanboys who blindly loved everything they put out and raved how great the Sanyo stock was doing as if they owned the Company just because they had a Sanyo microwave and treated the Sanyo CEO like he was a cult leader, then yes I would be fretting on their website. :)

Tony

Sigh, just when I get the money to buy more shares -_-

Yep, Apple is definitely in trouble for not releasing the iPhone 5 with a 4" screen

No one ever said they would be "in trouble," merely that they would lose potential sales. The iPhone 5 probably would have boosted them 25 points.

----------

How about just continuing to grow in their existing markets. There is no reason they can't hit $1000 without releasing any new products. If they do come out with something new... then the sky is the limit. Maybe they will take Siri to the next level and release a real Android.

I do sort of wish they'd do a 2:1.. or even a 4:1 split. :/

I am

Obviously an inevitable thing happened here regardless of bigger screen or name of the phone.

People like new people want newer, you can't stop it, Apple's name has been born over the years with long and visionary and creative ideas. Only way for it to die down is someone will say something that'll make sense of it all from creating something out of this world.

Government's came in contact with it ask them. Oh they won't tell you about it but I already know & it's pretty messed up and may cause Mass panic.

It so happens that I am an engineer by profession.

Although contrary to most of my kind, I have an inclination for smart, pleasing visuals too.

It's not just eye-candy; It's part of the user experience in a way most hardware/software developers still can't accurately measure/quantify/reproduce properly.

The pleasure of daily interacting with devices that not only perform greatly, but look good too (without being excessively flashy) is part of what makes our standard of living this good and not worse. It has a purpose.

I choose my clothes, but utility always takes precedence over taste. That doesn't mean I have to look cheesy/tacky.

I reject the idea of carrying something that looks like Windows XP on my pocket. I guess that makes me an Apple fanboi :)

Android and their SD cards, widgets, 'true' (read: brute-force) multitasking etc. can kiss my shiny iOS any day.
