Spoken like a cracker with white guilt. If you cannot love yourself, then how can you love others? The way to combat "real" racism is with love, not other types of hate.

Did you notice that your started your message insinuating that the other member was inbred? Was that really necessary? You don't realize that you are a racist. As long as race matters to you then you are racist. A racist can be defined as someone who hates or prefers people based on race. A racist can even be someone who hates other people of their own race like assuming that they must be "inbred" because they have a different sense of humour than you do.

BTW. I dare you to call me a racist. I seriously dare you. I don't just have a token "friend" who is black, my family tree is interracial but I really don't see it as a big deal like Americans do. My family tree has people from asia as well as the Caribbean in addition to Europe. I might be "white" but some of my close blood relatives are not.

Take your own advice and grow up.

Lighten up. In a tolerant society you can make jokes like this without being called a racist (this is not even close for the definition of a racist). That's one of the basics of a democracy. The same goes for jokes about any Gods or religion without being beheaded.

I don't go around calling myself a "insert background"-Canadian. I'm a Canadian even if I'm a first generation immigrant. If you did not personally immigrate from china then you have absolutely no business calling yourself anything other than an Australian. As soon as you accept that, you will be one step closer to being free of racism.

As for the "real" chinese in "china", I'm happy to see the progress their society has made in terms of greater economic freedom and development of their infrastructure over the past two decades. I hope more people in china will be able to afford products like the iPhone in the coming years as they emerge to become an economic powerhouse.

I work with people of various backgrounds and we all joke around at work and it's ok because it is all in "fun". I don't get all offended when they crack a joke or pun concerning my background. None of the aussies I work with are as uptight as some of you on here. Seriously, if you want to be a real aussie, then you need to take a "no worries" attitude towards life.

Yes, in normal cases I wouldn't mention it. It was only mentioned when you called me a white "cracker". I'm half-Chinese. It was relevant to that point, and that is the only time I have mentioned it in this discussion.

If you saw me at work, and said: "Lol, do you have dog for lunch?", I'd report you to a supervisor for racism.

None of the aussies I work with are as uptight as some of you on here.

That's because it's your workplace. Not this forum. If people said what they did here in the real world, they would be immediately fired (at least at any place I've ever worked - and I've worked in five different countries).

I'm not racist. I don't believe anything I posted at all. It was to highlight that these remarks are inappropriate and out of order.

What I said was no worse than the posts earlier in this thread, but it was taken as harsher because of a double-standard that seems common on this forum. Racism against Chinese is fine, and happens within three or four posts of any Chinese-related thread here. Any other racism is jumped upon as disgraceful immediately.
