Wait for the 5. But then, why not just wait for the 5s? But then when the 5s comes out, why not wait for iPhone 6? But why get that when there will be an upgrade come 9 months from now for the iPhone 6s? But then the iPhone 7 will be out! But wait, the 7s will come soon, so you gotta wait for it right? No, why get the 7s when the iPhone 8 will soon be out with a new design? Wait! but then the iphone 8s will come out and will be an improvement to the iPhone 8. But why get the iPhone 8s when the iPhone 9 will be out and possibly w/ a new design? Etc. etc. etc.

If they stay with the same design (unlikely, I know), nobody will notice. Nobody really notices the differences between the 4 and 4S unless they REALLY know what to be looking for.

Most put a case on their phones so it could be a HTC for all most know! :p

My IPhone 4 covers all the bases for me right now. The 4s does not really put anything on the table that would want me to purchase it. I buy my handsets outright.

I'm waiting for whatever apple decide to call their next iPhone release.

why are you leaving Sprint? Are you having problems with your service? I am on Sprint right now and upgrading to a 4S soon. The thing I like about Sprint is that they let you upgrade at the start of your 22nd month. So even though my contract is up in mid April, I can upgrade on Feb. 1st. This means my next upgrade will be in Dec. 2013. Coincidentally, Sprint is supposed to be just about finishing up their LTE rollout by the end of 2013. Perfect time to upgrade.

If you have any questions about Sprint, send me a private message.

I live in the DC area, and Sprint's service tends to be solid when it's there, but extremely spotty. I'd like more consistent service/coverage. Verizon is king here, and from anecdotal conversations with people around here, AT&T is generally pretty solid, too. That, and I'm tired of the slow data speeds with Sprint, and I've never gone above 2GB since I'm on wireless most of the day.

As I said, I'm not eligible for an upgrade until June, which is a funky time in between past and possibly future release of iPhone models. I figured in the future, I could get a 5S (or whatever) just a few months out from its release, which would be preferable for me anyway. Part of it is that I also really want an iPhone, and the cost differential to me isn't enough of an issue to prevent me from consider jumping carriers, as well.

Okay. That makes sense.

Well, in your situation, if you were going to leave, sooner rather than later would be good. Remember to go to a brick-and-mortar store as opposed to an authorized retailer, like "Bob's Verizon" or "Cell-Phone-O-Rama" or even "Best Buy" - the true retail stores will give you the best offers.

Personally, I like AT&T's calling plans and features better. If you're only on a single line, that may not be the case, but I found the most bang from the buck is with AT&T (when only comparing AT&T and Verizon).

Most of my cell phone time on calls is to other mobile phones. AT&T has a feature called Unlimited Messaging with Mobile to Mobile which allows you to call anyone on any mobile phone and it doesn't count against your minutes. Verizon's feature, by comparison, only works for other Verizon users.

One thing I would do either way is actually go to the AT&T Store and mention that you have an early termination fee with your existing carrier, but you're ready to switch now. They will probably waive the activation fees for you - they offered to do this for me, but I opted to stay with Sprint because I have a 14-day money back guarantee window to play with it and see the speed. I don't have any problems with coverage in my area, so I am not really concerned.

That's a good tip, thanks. I'm like you with respect to calling, so that's why AT&T caught my eye in terms of the mobile-to-mobile thing. I'm also a bit torn as to the potential long-term networks between both carriers; in this scenario, I'd pick up a 5S with LTE coverage at some point, and so I'd like to be in a position to get with the best network that has it. Verizon's coverage seems like a big selling point with me, and despite the flaws inherent in such speed tests, don't seem that differential when compared to AT&T's native speeds (and yes, I'm aware of HSPA+).

Is AT&T still the only carrier that you can talk on the phone and surf the web at the same time??? I was wondering because this was a big selling point for me not to switch to Verizon. I just so happen to use that feature a whole lot, I also love At&t's customer service aggressiveness at giving you a great deal when you say your thinking about switching to Verizon or Sprint.:D

How many years has she been your fiancé anyway ? :D

Well, we got engaged last year, but we've been together for a lot longer. She's my fiance now, so when she's looking, i have to call her that.....

----------

Don't you feel guilty when handed her the ones were used by you each time? :p

i always offer to buy her the new one! She doesnt want it. She's said to me last time, what do i need that siri bitch on my phone for?

And my iphones are immaculate! not a scratch or blemish ever!

Yes. Well, on 3G anyway. I believe with LTE, Verizon and Sprint will also be able to talk and surf at the same time. The limitation is with the CDMA type of network they're on, whereas AT&T is on GSM.

Hey guys! :)

I'm having a hard time deciding wether I want the iPhone 4s or should I wait till the iPhone 5 comes out? Cause if I do get the 4s i'd wait to wait for the next upgrade :(

wait. next version will be a major redesign and supports 4g.
