This link fixed it for me

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/951173/en-us

The resolution isn't going to come from Apple. On your Windows computer, any Apple product will read the metadata correctly and orient the pics properly (Quicktime, RealPlayer).

This fixed picture rotations, not my video rotations. Those should be just taken in landscape mode always.

I am also now able to edit the pictures in Windows Live and not have the error.

Fix!!!!

Hey people i had the same problem and found the solution if you open the picture in paint and then click rotate image and then save it should save and rotate it, btw im using windows 7 and the version of paint that comes with it.

Hope it helps thanks

Are you trying to edit their photos streams? If so, you can not have done so. You should right-click them, import them into iPhoto, then you can edit them.I had the same problem, because I ip4s lanuch day, my workaround is to use lossless JPEG rotation device, which is built into right click context menu.

wonder if this will get resolved in an update. i'm also using lossless rotator integrated into the shell for now.

The method that was described a couple of posts above worked for me..."open the picture in paint and then click rotate image and then save it should save and rotate it."

Actualy, if you open the photo in any photo program, ms office picture manager, paint, picasa etc...., you can rotate it and save.

I like the ease of just open the folder in thumbnail view, highlight the photo in batch, right click and rotate.

Both method works fine, except one is easy than the other.

Windows Fix

I am having the same problem.I have found a work-around, but it isn't as quick as I'd like. right-click on the image...open with...paint...image...flip/rotate...click on rotate 90...close and save.

I'm having the exact same problem. Like others using Paint to rotate the image worked.

Hope there is a fix for this soon.

James

Opened problem file with GIMP and it says 'According to the EXIF data, this image is rotated' It will then give you the option to rotate it back and save it.

Ok here goes to all iphone 4s users i am about to tell how to fix your upload picture problems so you can work with photos, flip, etc. First of you will notice this does not happen to all pics upload.
The problem is this apple knows about it and so does mircrosoft that deals with windows live photo program, but they willnot amit it and are working on a solution. I had three days of grief and phone calls and monies spend to get this temporary solution until apple fixes, even talked with a apple senior advisor, ha. Ok after uploading photos, will have to click on pic, right click, see if can rotate if not, r click send to paint and hit top save icon corner left looks like a disc, close out, can now work with pic. I had 153 pic to do, the ones that i could not flip were head shots, strange but maybe something to this, but anyway this will help all of you on a temporary basis until the big boys fix the problem. This problems is with windows program not sure if apple has the same. But only the 4s. Hope this helps all and cuts down on all your grief.

Be sure when taking videos new users to use camera horizontal no fliping after upload

4s images on Photostream

Yes, it's another delightful quirk of the 4S

I've noticed that the location data on my images is corrupted somewhere between my 4S and Photostream.

The data is correct on the original images - and on most of those transferred to Photostream. However on a number of images I've taken recently, the location on Photostream has been out by around 40 miles!

This doesn't happen on my iPad 4 images, or on my old iPhone 3GS.
