What were you doing in a freshwater lake for ten minutes in the middle of January in Russia? THAT is the million dollar question.

LoL, well it wasn't in Russia axaxa i doubt i would be able to find a freshwater lake here in January that would be un frozen.
I was somewhere in the Caribbean pool, Ocean Cruise. And it wasn't me swimming with it, my younger brother, im kind of at the age, when i check my pockets before going into the water lol.
Sad though that the volume button is unfixable. Owell I mean after all it was in the water for 10 minutes, Nokias don’t work after being in the water for 1 minute.

Not sure though what to do, use it the way it is, (everything works great, except for the volume icon that stays in the middle of the screen the whole time, thank God it’s transparent in some way) or change it for $500 new iPhone 64 here goes around $1000 sim unlocked.

I hope you put it in a bag of rice and sealed it for a few days before trying to do anything, as that seems to be the default answer.

Have you tried doing a reset and a reset where you hold down the home button?

I would recommend getting a lifeproof case (www.lifeproof.com), then you can go swimming with it.

Oh I didn't see that. If its not obvious he opened it up they will still replace though.

I once opened up a phone and still managed to get an out of warranty replacement so it's all fine. There's a lot of misinformation on these forums.

I wonder if i can do this in Europe, or is this only possible in the USA?

You can get the out of warranty replacement for equivalent of $200USD anywhere Apple officially sells iPhones, I believe.

Exactly, but not only that. Why were you or your brother swimming in a lake in Russia in January with the clothes on? :) People usually take them off and put iPhones/iPads etc away before going swimming.

Well, you said that it only works when on a charger. I don't know about you, but I use my phone 99% of the time when it's off charger. (sarcasm not intended).

Anyway, would you consider mailing your phone in to Apple? They should still be able to replace it for you for the $200 fee I would think. There would be some waiting involved, but it sure beats $1000.

Wirelessly posted

I pot my iPhone in a bag of uncooked rice for a week and even after that it never worked correctly. The cameras also did not work.I called apple and told them what had happened and they replaced it for free even though it was out of warranty.
Awesome customer service. Of course, the fact that I had purchased 3 imacs from them as well as 5 iPhones and a couple of iPads and an apple TV may have had something to do with their niceness.

Well did i forget to mention, that i replaced the battery and replaced the Dock Connector, everything works fine now, i can call, play do everything the iphone can.
But the problem is that the volume transparent logo never goes away and the volume can't be set to anything more then minimum. i will take a picture or a video, to explain what i mean.

Yeah i tried doing the home button reset, update.
The interesting thing is that the volume logo disappears when i go to settings i can but the volume back to maximum, manual by swiping my finger in sounds settings, but then it instantly goes down, as if the - volume level button is always being pushed. i tried turning off the "Change with Buttons" volume, but still no luck. The people at the unofficial apple service here told me, that there was some bad corrosion on the logic board exactly on the part that is in charge of volume control, that is why there is nothing that can be done.
