Exactly what I was typing haha.

Say you are watching the football game and a commercial for Nike cleats come on. You go to the store, and you buy a pair. Get home, there is a scratch on them.

You gonna keep them? No. Because new shoes should never have scratches. Just like new clothes should never have stains or holes. So should a new iPhone that YOU SPENT 250-1000$ have scratches or nicks? No.

totally agree. But I also agree with taking photos. Post some photos so we can understand more about this problem and help us look out for them too.

Hi All

I got my 64GB iPhone from the Apple store in the UK on launch day and I have noticed that the steel band had some shiny marks on the it. Its about and inch and a half lower that the volume keys.

This is my 6th replacement on the same day as the others had 1 or more dead pixels. Plus there was one with a chip in the steel band and one with a small tiny hole in the steel band....

I am thinking to change it :) as I like my phones mark less but I prefer them with out dead pixels..... too..... so it s a chance...

What do you think... are the marks on the steel band common.

I find this very very difficult to believe. I've had four replacements that I honestly didn't ask for. The first time I went to the Apple store was because I wanted them to check the battery. He did and decided to give me a new phone. The second time my SIM card (Sprint) locked me out but he decided to replace the phone (unnecessarily) . And the last time Sprint finally replaced the phone since they didn't have any SIM cards.

The point is, unfortunately there was nothing wrong with any of the phones and they were all perfect. Possibly the only exception is the first one. this last one is 100% perfect. No green screen (under polarized lenses), no yellow screen, no dead pixels, fastest data of all three, amazing battery life and no blemishes anywhere. And I'm anal about things like that.

Six imperfect iPhone 4S's? Not likely.

Well yes it can happen.. and it has. the 5 were for dead pixels.

Btw I know if difficult to look for dead pixels and most people will not even find them....but I did or the guys at the apple store would not have done the exchange......its that simple.

Ick, that's horrid run of luck, but yeah, dead/stuck pixels are absolute grounds for exchange, however many gone though. Their policy on anything smaller than ipad is indeed no pixel faults at all. Ipad I believe is allowed to have a couple, though will still usually exchange.

There could be a problem with the 64gb production line or something.. Last week I bought a white 64gb in the apple store, and upon opening it I discovered deep scratches in the plastic which surrounds the glass around the screen. So the employee got me another phone. This other brand new phone had the exact type of marks in the plastic as the first one.

So the employee got a third phone. By now the manager is apologizing profusely and giving me my choice of a case for free. The third one shut itself off with seconds of seeing the boot logo. So I started it back up, and it did it again. They did a DFU restore on it and brought it back out. So then I started it up and it did it AGAIN.

Still apologizing profusely, the manager and employee went to get me yet another new iPhone 4S. This fourth phone was physically perfect, and is still working like it should :)

People think apple has to raise prices because of this type of scenario, but that isn't true. Apple raises prices because you will pay anything they want you to for their amazing products and customer service. Replacing 3,6, 10 iPhones is nothing to apple.
