I always complain about delivery drivers for that reason. Why do they try their best to not be seen/heard? That's the difference between them and people that don't get their money until the delivery has been made (IE - Restaurant Delivery Drivers). You can be sure the delivery driver is going to make their presence known. But package deliveries? It's as if they enjoy making multiple delivery attempts.

I'll tell you why they do that. Many people like to have full on conversations, about whatever with the drivers and it eats up minutes on other time sensitive deliveries. Even if it's just a minute it starts adding up. If they start having late deliveries they start to get noticed by the higher-ups.

Check with neighbors maybe they just dropped them at the wrong house.

Finally got through to their "customer service," i was treated like a criminal. They claimed that it's not the drivers fault and he is one of the best, which i doubt she even knew him. They told me to file a POLICE report, yes a dumb police report instead of starting a claim for me. I Demanded her to call the UPS driver, and he claimed that He delivered to the correct house with "the gate". 90% of the houses in the street has a gate.

I was furious after the phone call and not having anything done, i went to check my neighbors house hoping he did deliver it to the wrong house. Just before I reach the 3rd neighbors house, the UPS driver went in and grabbed two boxes from that house and brought it to me, saying "it's a good thing you called"

man, that was a horrible morning. Glad I got the phone now

Holy cow. Glad you got it in the end. I think you deserve a formal apology from whoever you spoke to on the phone though.

So change your thread title to "iPhone delivered to wrong address but recovered!"

Glad it's back in your hands.

So wait, they weren't home? Who signed for the iPhone then?

I don't want to hijack your thread (so I won't go into some of my stories), but I have had some yelling matches with them. I have to say they are sneaky bastard that do not ring the bell or knock and like to go around putting sorry we missed you notices on doors.

They really piss me off sometimes.

I was at work longer than I expected and got dropped off, The letter I taped to my door was missing so I figured they delivered it.

Instead of going in the front I went around the back, there were footprints in the grass (it was wet, a lot of rain)... Went into the screened porch and saw nothing.

I think I audibly said a few four letter words as I frantically searched for it... The UPS driver ended up leaving it in plastic bin under a bunch of extension cables and other outdoor tool things... I'm impressed he made an effort to hide it.

I've never had issues with UPS and I've even been sent (multiple) HDTVs through Amazon/Newegg in their retail boxes... $1000+ in value 3DTVs and all.

I'm sure OPs circumstance is very rare and should not be a representation of the company. I actually like UPS more than Fedex. They've damaged a few things I shipped to buyers online but for the most part they're courteous, speedy, and easy to deal with... and what they DID damage they refunded far more than what the true value was (Because I insured it)

Also I think OP overreacted, The driver made a delivery mistake (We're all human). Glad you got it in the end :)

HA! I would call back and ask to speak to the same lady, and tell her that one of their "best" drivers just left 800 dollars worth of merchandise at the wrong house, even though signature is required. Maybe she'll think twice before assuming all customers are just scammers calling to **** up her day for no apparent reason.

My brother got his 4S from fedex at around noon, no problems at all. If it had been through UPS, he wouldnt have gotten it till 700pm tonight. I dont know if its their route or what, but UPS NEVER EVER comes to our house before 6 or 7. Drives me nuts

All of my issues have been in the last 5 years. I was in a more urban area. I recently moved to a suburb of the same city on a dead end street. I have high hopes for them to regain my faith.

So much is up to the driver. I get a lot of stuff on Amazon prime and half the time the driver leaves a note, half the time they leave it at my door on first attempt. He got my iPhone 4s to me safe an sound so that is all that really matters. ;)

I wonder what % of UPS/Fedex business today was from Apple.

UPS IPhone 4S anticipation....then heartbreak!

I was following the travels of my new IPhone 4s today at work. Finally, today Friday, I was emailed that it had arrived at my house at 11:37 am (my wife's mother signed for it). When I returned home from work happily I picked up the new box and thought to myself....this sure feels light. Yes, I opened the box and it was completely empty!! Filed a police report, UPS compliant and of course called Apple. Nobody has returned my calls yet with an answer..have not disputed the charge with Visa yet. Will wait and see what the weekend brings.

UPS tracking showing delivered at 10:00am PST this morning, and at 10:20am i went out and saw nothing. looked all over the house, I didn't even hear the UPS truck. My house is gated too and I have a dog, so it's hard to just come in and steal it

now i'm on the phone with UPS, still waiting.

anyone else have bad luck this morning?

EDIT: I actually had TWO packages, one being shoes, BOTH mentioned delivered!, but NOTHING!

Armin only got cancelled too, other bad news

May I suggest you use this "event" to tell the guys that treated you like a criminal, how idiots they are?

OP - I feel for ya. I had the EXACT same issue yesterday. I was working home all day and was sitting on the couch waiting for UPS to deliver my 4s. I happen to check my status at 4:30 and it said it's been left at the front door. Complete BS - there was no absolutely UPS guy and needless to say no package.

I was raging and fuming mad - called UPS and they were like "have you looked around, blah, blah". Of course I had looked around my neighbors and nothing was to be found. Anyway, they asked me to call ATT and asked them to file a complain - I went ballistic on the poor UPS lady saying UPS f'ed up and they should own up. After an hour on the phone, they got through the local UPS office but the driver had left for the day. And said they would trace the route on Monday.

In the meantime, I called ATT and went ballistic on them too. Why? Well, first of all they don't give me an option of shipping to to any address but my billing address, and second of all, who the F sends an iPhone without delivery confirmation? Just stupid.

Anyway after a couple of hours with some CS agent, and eventually her manager, they were kind enough to re-issue the iPhone 4s for me. So basically, they are shipping another one early next week.

I'd recommend you call ATT/Sprint/Verizon and do the same..

I'm gonna go all out at UPS on Monday - I think either their driver jibbed it and left it at a wrong address. Either ways, they messed up.

I thought that none of the shipping companies was supposed to have delivered the iPhone 4S without getting a signature, but that's not what UPS did in my case - they left the package by the front door. I wasn't upset, though, since my wife had left the house for a bit.

Same here. I get early Fed Ex deliveries but late UPS. PLUS this has happened where ever I've lived in the past as well  I hope mine is delivered via Fed Ex. UPS always dumps and runs. They don't even ring the door bell. All of the bad delivery issues I've had are with UPS.

I've had lots of issues with UPS over the years. They would "attempt" delivery without ever knocking or ringing my buzzer, and I was home the entire time. Once they tried, I wasn't home and they delivered to my apartment office. But they never put a notice in my door. I never tracked it and wound up waiting an additional 2 weeks before I realized where it was.

Fortunately I had a very good experience this time, though it didn't start that way. They came very early, usually they don't get to me until mid afternoon. I was in the shower and didn't find out until they were gone. I called UPS and got stonewalled. They said there was absolutely no way for a redelivery before Monday, but I could arrange a pickup at a local hub after hours. I relented and set it up for the local hub to call me back to arrange a pickup. After a couple of calls with a very helpful lady, who was also fighting a cold, she called the driver and arranged another delivery just 3 hours after the original. The 1-800 call was worthless, but I was quite pleased with the contact I had with my local reps.

Yeah, I think it's a game they play. They keep tally marks on the truck each time they are able to "attempt a delivery" without actually attempting to deliver. They get double tally marks when they dump a package before you get to the door. If the weather is nice I sit out on the front porch and wait on them. :D

Seriously, I've had the same experience with UPS. I'll call (when I track and it says there was a delivery attempt, even though I was home all day) and the driver lies about the delivery attempt. Of course, UPS believes the driver and insinuates that I'm lying about being home all day. That really angers (trying to avoid another word choice) me. UPS sucks big time when you're on the receiving end. Hoping and praying Fed Ex delivers my 4S.

The exact same thing happened to me

I was at work and was constantly updated the fed ex tracking page. I saw that it got delivered on the tracking page and called my sister to get it from the front door because i was excited. said nothing was there, i started to panic and told her to check the other houses and sure enough it was 5 damn houses down. it could have been bad. I'm glad you got yours too!

That's exactly why I never order. I'd rather wait in line for 8-10 hours than deal with this bulls*it.

UPS has always been bad. I ordered a monitor in college a few years back and the studio I lived in was down a few stairs. Studio as in there's no possible way for me not to hear a knock. As I kept tracking my package, all of a sudden it says attempted delivery. So I call and they confirm that they tried and will redeliver the next day. The next day I, again, skipped all my classes to wait. This time with the door wide open and me sitting with my computer in the entry and again tracking changed to attempted delivery. So I got pissed and did some research and got the number to the office of the local UPS. A guy picked up when called and asked first thing "How did you get this number?" I just said don't worry about it and told him my situation. The driver came back and looked pissed bc I know he got caught...the box was huge and he just didn't want to deliver it.

With the iPhone 4s delivery the UPS guy plopped mine down on the porch and just took off...I ran after him asking him to see if there was another package. He said no, then 5mins later came back and was like "woopsie, there WAS another package..."

I've also had a bad experience of getting my detached garage broken into and the only people who actually know what is back there are UPS ppl bc they like to go all the way down the driveway and leave big packages even when I leave explicit notes not to go back there haha
