Anyone having issues with activating iMessage/FaceTime on a rogers iPhone 4S running on AT&T using iOS 5.1....please help if u got it working....

This is why I buy factory unlocked iphones from apple. No having to find the correct chinese website to sell me an unlock that only works for specific firmware (possibly). No wondering if I ordered the right one, went to the right site, if the chinese company will steal my credit card info, etc.....

OK you are richer than everyone else here. What did you do before they started selling factory unlocked versions? I wonder how many people unlock their phones and never take them off the network.

Can someone please PM me or post info on the reliable places to buy these?

I did not test yet with these SIM interposers/unlockers the method I will describe, but I will do soon, as I purchased a GPP one and it has to be delivered.

What I would do and what I did actually, is to go on eBay and search using a relevant string like "gpp iphone 4s unlock". Then select only "top-rated sellers" from the options on the left (under "Sellers"). Look for those with truly stellar feedback and who sold interposers before (the more sold the better). Look also to their return policy. eBay, PayPal and your credit card should serve as a reasonable safety net as well, and they will even force the seller to accept a return/issue a refund, should you need to do so. Also the feedback is a good tool to get what you want, do not leave positive until you are 100% sure that things are as they should.

I admit that this method can not be failproof, but based on my experience buying various little things on eBay it should work great. One issue I would be affraid of is that maybe the buyers didn't test those interposers thouroughly before leaving the positive feedback. When a seller sold 500+ however of a given interposer, chances are that if they were faulty you would see a number of number of negative feedback.

Good luck!

Just an Update

Finally got back to the island to I used a sim card cutter, trimmed the regular sim into a micro sim, put the local sim over the gevey tray and put it into my iphone 4S on 5.0.1

It literally took 5 seconds to unlock the phone plug and play

I use iMessage through my email so Ive never actually tried out if the local phone number works on iMessage

Gevey works fine, just dont update your iOS and trouble will start!
Get an IMEI unlock and you will be good to go permanently without any fear of losing the unlock
