LoL, I like watching everyone complain, but I guess the good guy in me wants to tell you all how to fully charge an iphone battery.

1. Plug it in the wall not the computer
2. Turn it off (after being plugged in, or it will turn on again)
3. Charge like that all night then you will have better battery life.

Ok ,now back to loling

Getting my 5 tomorrow, i think i'm going to go down the following route:

  1. Setup as a new device (without being plugged in)
  2. Waste down the stock charge on the battery
  3. Charge back to 100% with the device off
  4. Use until it shuts off or at 1% (undecided)
  5. Charge one more time to 100% whilst device is off
  6. Use as normal

Opinions?

For 2 straight days I've been monitoring now, I've been getting roughly 4.5-5 hours of usage, 9 hours of standby on LTE about half the time, regular browsing, texting, calling, music. Anything wrong with my battery? Signal has been fair 3-4 bars and solid connection on LTE with no lag

Was thinking of asking for a replacement while phone is still new

really happy right now. up until today the best I had gotten was anywhere between 6 - 6.5 hours of usage before my IP5 would die. Then today, 9+!!

Not sure what the heck I did but very happy! Hope it stays.

That doesn't sound normal. I have 50% battery left, 4 hr usage and 10.1 hr standby. I have mostly used it for email, RSS podcasts and photos.

I could literally see my indicator drop 1-2% a minute until I disabled LTE, now the battery life is better than my 4S.

I think mine was fine. Watched maybe an hour of youtube videos, played music, browsed like crazy. played 2 games. and general text/email. However, it takes about 5hrs from this percentage to 100%, which is odd to me

Loving my iPhone 5 battery life. I used pandora streaming from wifi for 7 hours, 30 min FaceTime call, 30 minutes web surfing, 30 minutes of watching my webcam, a few phone calls and 10 texts.

So I have tried all the tricks and my battery life is still way worse than my 4. Setup as new, turned off everything that isn't necessary, fully drained and charged a few times, auto brightness everything. By the drive home from work my battery is on its last leg. Not much heavy use during work hours and when I do I'm on wifi. So bummed. I'm hoping this is an iOS flaw and will be fixed.

You still have 34% to go?

I think mine is getting better this is my 3rd battery status post, first was 4 hr. next 6 now its 9hr. just let it drain until it shut off. this latest run I turn off location service.

you know how all apps would behave from a restore of a backup?

there are many users here that reported better battery life after a clean install.

this is true for many operating systems, including iOS/Android/Windows/etc.

Another full day of usage with mixed LTE/WiFi (mostly LTE all day)

How do you have LTE off but 4G on? lol....

Looks like you're in an area with a shoddy 4G connection. Most likely the reason why. I have been using LTE devices for the past year (since it was announced) and huge drain issues are due to weak connections to LTE.

I think this is a key point here. Who knows what types of areas half of the battery problems are in. I have noticed that my battery, while at work (where I have a terrible LTE connection) drops significantly faster then when I'm outside or home with a strong LTE connection.

Using LTE, internet browsing, brightness little bit below halfway

Wow, you guys are getting excellent battery life. I am not getting over 6 hours, and barley go over 5hours.
Mine looks really bad and I consider it light usage too - have exchange set up for emails on gmail, a few texts, and twitter and maybe a game for 20 minutes.
Phone dies by 8pm. Also it uses tons of data, on LTE so probably causing the battery to die.
Should I get it looked at?

I would wait for 6.01. Some tips i have heard that really help, but didn't for me

- Turn off passbook sync
- charge the iphone off from 0% to 100%
- turn off lte

So I was barely getting 5-6 hours usage. Last night i restored the phone, set up as new and then ran it down to 0 and charged back up to 100 with the phon off.

So far today...I'm at 74% with 2h38min usage and 6h31min standby.

That is way better then what I had been getting. A few days agao I took a screen shot at 78% and I was only at 1h16min usge and 4h56min standby.

If I can get to 7-8 hours usage I will be happy.

Here's mine. On the second complete drain and refill. I can't complain...

What would hte benefits be of rebooting the iphone and starting as new? I have about 1.4 gb in yellow (other) data that I seemed to have carried over.

Would you all recommend I restart from scratch?

I have yet to calibrate my battery (let it empty and recharge to full) but yesterday I went 7.5 hours of usage (mostly listening to music, then some wifi browsing at home and some bluetooth streaming in the car) and 23 hours of standby. I should also mention that I have terrible signal at work where I spent most of my day and it constnatly fluxtuates between LTE, 3G & o (I'm on verizon).

Not sure what to think of the battery at this point and I would rather not have to reboot my phone from scratch if I don't have to.

Would I have to manuall select each of the apps I have installed on my iphone since I can't restore from backup? Is that really going to resolve whatever issue may or may not exist? iphone.

(FYI, being that this is a slightly different topic, i've moved this post over to another thread to continue the conversation there)

I don't have passbook sync on, turned It off. As for turning of LTE, then might as well stick to iPhone 4? I was having wifi issues to LTE is my option.
I am traveling this weekend but when I get back I will restore and charge from 0-100% with it off.

My usage is under 2hrs and I'm at 53% right now:/

Yeah, been on wifi browsing while at the airport, but at 18%. Auto brightness. No calls. Just texting and browsing.
My usage has been dropping since the 1st day... But this is definitely the worst. I have an exchange for my phone on its way, but wifi issues might be resolved with router so I Dan want to change my phone. However, battery seems like a good reason now.

Just typing this I am at 17% :/
