Charged mine to 100% and took it off the charger as I slept. Woke up expecting 10% battery drain... And I was shocked to see these results! I had an alarm set all night as well. LTE and wifi are always on, Bluetooth is off. Location services on, and push email is on as well.

My best battery life so far! This is awesome! It was literally HARD for me to run this down to 1%. I had to genuinely try. I took this off the charger last night at 2:35AM (or around there) and it just hit 1% at 1:11AM the next day! Almost a full 24 hours of standby with over 6 hours of usage such as games, YouTube videos, browsing, downloading apps, Facebook, twitter, phone calls, texting... The whole bit and this 6+ hours of usage was with NO MUSIC PLAYING. My previous beat battery life was 9 hours standby with 4 hours of usage. This battery life is incredible. And this is with LTE and wifi always on, Bluetooth off, location services on for many apps, and push email on with one email account. Simply incredible battery life, and, not to mention, my black/slate iPhone 5 has no defects such as nicks, scuffs, scratches, etc.

Mine has been a bit odd. It goes from 100% down to 85%-90% within minutes. When it got down to about 20% I watched an hour episode on Netflix and just watched 25 minutes of another on the last 1% until it died. Calibration issue maybe?

Definitely a calibration issue. Let that sucker die a few times and then fully charge it to 100%.

I know it has been said MANY times before but restore as new.
Seriously.
I had APPALLING battery life on my iPhone 5.
An 'as new' restore has sorted it out completely.

It takes time and is a pain but far better than the pain of the previous battery life.

I can second this. I was having pretty bad results, not horrible, but it was noticeable how it was draining. I tried everything, and this morning I did a DFU restore to 6.0. Set it up as a new phone. And what do ya know, the battery is actually really good compared to before.

I finished setting it up at 9am, it's now 2am, used it for 4 hours today, mostly calls, and setting up applications / browsing, and I'm still at 49% right now. Before it would be down to 15-20 percent by this point.

Definite improvement. Yeah it sucks to restore as new, but it's a fresh start :) I'd say that 9 out of 10 times the problems with the battery life are caused by software.

Pretty good. Streamed a couple YouTube videos when I only had 3G connection which drained about 10% of my battery. Normally wouldn't do that so to think I could have close to 25% battery with 8hrs use and 15hrs standby is great.

Rubbish battery life on iPhone 5

Anyone else finding this? I've been up since 7 when I unplugged my phone, its now 10 am. I've checked facebook once, sent two text messages, used audio over bluetooth in my car for about an hour an im already down to 78%

an hour of BT signaling seems like a battery drainer to me

Turn off push notifications and lower screen brightness.

Its a smartphone afterall.

I have also complaints on the battery but Iam learning to adapt.

Are u streaming music through Pandora or another streaming service or do you have the music loaded on your iPhone?

I haven't noticed much of a difference with battery life. Used it yesterday for some Internet, about 2 hours of calls, temple run for half hour or so, and some other stuff and went to bed with about 56% left. That was with LTE, wifi, and blutooth on. Screen brightness I keep around 1/4 to 1/3 brightness. More than that and my eyes hurt. I also turned off Push for a lot of things and changed it to fetch every hour instead. I keep location services access to a minimum as well so that not every app I have is aware of where I am and when.

Nope, sorry. I'm getting the same three days (or thereabouts) that I did from my 4S. That's with wifi and bluetooth always on as well, so not bad at all.

All the music is on my phone. Not streaming.

What used to really drain my 4 was auto brightness, but I've made sure thats off....

I wont be turning notifications off, that would pretty much render the phone worthless tbh.

I used mine today for 5 hrs and 4 mins, standby time was 23 hrs 23 mins. I streamed music to and from work (40 mins) using Pandora, used maps with gps on for about 10 mins, some phone calls, text messages, emails, Internet, all with LTE, wifi, and blutooth on. I am at 44% remaining. Overall, not bad. Maybe about the same as my iPhone 4.

I've noticed that iOS 6 in general drains the battery faster than iOS 5 (wait for 6.0.1 to fix it), but your pattern sounds a bit ridiculous. I'd suggest backing it up, erasing, and restoring it. Sometimes that helps.

I've been wrestling with my battery for a while now. I stopped in for a genius appointment and was told that the battery is fine. The drain is being caused by a software issue. I did a restore from my iPhone 4 which may have contributed to the problem. So tonight I restored and set up as a new iPhone. It was a pain getting all my apps back and my photos, but I eventually was able to recreate my setup (with the exception of my texts). I will find out tomorrow how the battery fares. I don't have very high hopes. If there's no improvement, I'll just have to wait for a firmware update. That seems to be the usual pattern. New OS, complaints about battery life, update to OS.

And I have no intention of turning off my Bluetooth, changing the email fetch frequency or dimming my screen. I expect comparable battery life to the 4 without altering my routines.

I'm glad you made this thread.

It's the first thread about it on MacRumors.

Wow, great contribution. Thanks.

Did you restore from a backup or set up as new?

Why should you have to stifle the capabilities of the phone? Kind of defeats the purpose.

Personally I think it's iOS 6.0.

Many people agree with you, I certainly do.

Because my iPhone 5 just didn't appeal, I've gone back to my very well liked iPhone 4S. After reading that iOS 6 greatly reduces battery life on older iPhones, I'm going to stick with iOS 5 & the very handy Google Maps.

Looking forward, I'm eager to see if history repeats itself. If true, the next iPhone will be a huge upgrade. Apple will have learned how to deliver a phone free of chips & scratches. Battery life will be consistent, and maybe, just maybe, Apple will tighten up it's quality control.

In my experience battery life is excellent, both on my wife's iPhone 4 and my new iPhone 5.

EDIT: My wife has my old 4S that I upgraded to iOS 6.

Well mine is really good! I can use mine all day and it still has a good charge. I unplugged mine at 7:30am and right now it is 10:50pm, I'm at 42%. Not bad.

Haven't experienced any issues with my battery lifeImageUploadedByTapatalk1349150240.558265.jpg any of you who experience problems, did you set your i5 up with a restore from an older iPhone? Mine is set up as new

PS. Sry danish interface timer= hours ;)

I too am having pretty shoddy battery life. Charged my phone after work at about 4, took it off at 6:00 and it was 100%. Got home at 1130 and it was at 40%. 4.5 hours, 60% drain. Low brightness, some texting and social media use. I love the phone so I hope a software update resolves this

Mines is fine. 9 hour work day. Walked into office at 96%, left at 73%. Didn't do too much though. I turn LTE off and watched a few videos on 4G, text and Twitter all day.
