I hated the two tone when it was leaked. After it was shown in that video with Ive I went insane over the black one. WOW. I preordered and it will be at my house on launch day. The raw aluminum looks odd in the white one and I don't like how the FaceTime camera sticks out along with the other black circle to the left of the ear piece. Similar to the proximity sensor on my white 4S. I got the white 4S because I had a black iPhone 4 and the white was scarce for so long. I love the white 4S. Some people associate white with being a girl's phone. I don't agree.

Not getting a 5, but the black looks amazing. The white on the other hand looks disgusting I think, much prefer the white 4/4S.

I wanted a white when the iPhone 4 came out but of course the white color took months so I ended up getting a black one. So I"m going to go with the white since I"ve had black for 2 years and a few months.

I'm doing the same. Couldn't justify waiting for the white one last time!

I see a problem with both the black AND the white

Black: From what I understand the aluminum is only a black coating so youve got a surface that will scratch pretty easily and reveal a lot of silver underneath. (Hopefully thats not true)

White: I actually wanted white but the silver band looks a bit dated since its the same style as the last two iPhones. But more importantly, black letterboxing on a white phone look very distracting for legacy apps (especially bright ones) And not every dev cares about updating to retina or widescreen.

In the end I went with Black, but either way then I feel in a year then anyone who uses a naked iPhone will have a lot of scratches.

Getting white because my black iPhone 4 is so inconspiculous, I must of left it on so many shopping carts and counters. Luckily, I remembered to go back and retrieve them. Hopefully white won't blend into the background so much, though I won't be able to use it as much for spy surveillance. :apple:

Also, got a white iPhone 4 for my significant other, and thought it looked so awesome.

I must say, it does make me laugh how after going through numerous threads, there are so many people who discounted the white iPhone based on the letter boxing of apps and how it might ruin the look.

To each his own, I know. But I'd be much more concerned about how prone to scratching the new anodized back and bezel is. Apps can be updated. Unfortunately, a permanent marker can only do so much to cover any scuffs. Then again, I might be proven wrong and the black iPhone doesn't scratch... :p

I got white. I've had black for 4 years now - I had a black 3G and a black 4 (wanted the white 4, but white wasn't available at the 4 launch) so it should be a nice change.

The black looks a lot sleeker/cooler but I use a case so the silver on the white won't make a difference.

The argument about the contrast of the white bezel has been pretty much debunked for me, as I went from a black iPad 1 to white iPad 3. Never notice the bezel. Nice to have a choice.

Now, I imagine it will be a few months and we'll see it in various colors.

I work for a company that has one of the largest anodize facilities in the world.

Black aluminum bezel in 6061 alloy will definitely show dings and scratches from coins, rings and keys. They obviously ran the thinnest possible anodize finish on the part to show the polished chamfer.

Not only will it look like hell with minor scratches, some people's body chemistry/sweat will bleach out the color from normal handling and UV exposure. This is unavoidable with thin black anodize on 6061. Only way to avoid it is to go to a class III anodize, which can't be dyed dark black.

In six months there will be a thread on here bitching about blotchy finish.

Am considering getting a white! Really envious at how well my colleagues white iPhones go with pink accessories!

This is a very good point.....Thanks I'm locking my choice in with black!!

my problem with black has always been how badly it shows fingerprints... white hides them well

I want to see them in store in person before deciding, but definitely leaning towards the black- the white/silver combo doesn't look that great (if is was white/slate it would've looked amazing)

I was leaning for the White, but when I saw that dark band around the phone it won me over. That black iPhone is REALLY slick!

Same here plus once a case is put on it pretty much doesn't matter what color it is lol

White for me. I have a white 4S right now and a white iPad 3 so I like having matching colors. I also agree with the black showing scratches and fingerprints easier.

Gross.

I chose white for a couple of reasons. First and foremost was durability. White, I feel, won't show up finger prints as much and more importantly, I don't think it will be as prone to scratching - or if it is, it won't be as noticeable.

This is one of the main reasons why I got the white iPhone 5. It looks excellent, and I really wanted a change, as I had gotten black iPhones since the 3G. Also, after 2 years of ownership, my iPhone 4 (once again black) is nothing but a smudge magnet.

I like the white bezel on my iPad. It's kind of like a photo matte. I did not like the asymetrical white frame in the phone. Just preference, of course. My black 64 just arrived today and it was flawless!

Every year I'm so tempted at the white clean look and I swore I was getting a white one this year, but the "black out" style with partial glass and black aluminium in a black leather case.. I just couldn't order the white one. Nice to admire but not what I want to own, I suppose.
