Hey guys,

Not sure if this has been seen by many yet, but it's being retweeted a lot on twitter this evening (8PM GMT)

http://www.siliconbeat.com/2012/09/...es-man-whisked-away-by-apple-store-employees/

Quite interesting if you ask me!

For those of you who cant be bothered to click the link, to summarise:

A journalist/videographer witnessed a member of the public (who had a scuffed device), being "whisked" into an Apple store by employees after complaining about scuffs. They seemingly did NOT want the situation being filmed/photographed (makes sense I guess), hence the aforementioned 'whisk'. Seems to be an ongoing story!

Well, my scuffed iPhone wasn't actually scuffed. It was adhesive of some soret as an earlier poster mentioned. I used some iKlear cleaner and a microfiber and the "scuffs" are gone.

Very strange... They looked and like abrasions.

I'll let you know what it looks like after my 2-year old kids spend five minutes with it. That's the ultimate durability test for me. :p

can someone tell me the current poll results for scratched to flawless, it wont let me see on my iphone

Or stop pretending it is anything as widespread as the antenna issue.

The antenna issue is a structural design flaw that's on every iPhone 4.

Scuffgate consists of cosmetic blemishes that do not impact everyone. The two cannot be compared.

just noticed a defective anodisation on my black bezel

will return it for a white one

i guess that the silver bezel on the white does not suffer the same issue (is the silver bezel equivalent to the one on the 4/4S ?)

No scuffs or scratches on mine but my home button is noticeably raised above the glass on the left side :/

:apple: iPhone 5 32GB Black, iPhone 4S 32GB White, iPad 3 16GB Black, iPod Video 5.5G 120GB, Shure SE425's :apple:

I am one of the people who voted that my iPhone was scratched out of the box.

After literally hours of messing with it, I discovered something astounding (to me anyway). They weren't nicks but errant bits of insanely sticky and reflective glue. I only figured this out with lots of rubbing.

I had exactly the same experience. Give it a try.

The White iPhone suffers exactly the same issues. Its the same soft aluminium afterall.

You'll just notice it less as its silver on silver, as opposed to black on silver.

is it the same silver bezel as on the iPhone 4S ? i mean in terms of technology ?

if so i was very happy with my white iPhone 4S and will go for a white iPhone 5

The white one also gets scuffed easily as they are both painted, the only difference is that it is not as noticeable as the black one but if you look for it you will find it.

The biggest problem I'm seeing is that people that wear rings and earrings are going to have scratched & dinged iPhone 5s regardless going forward.

So you don't have to put it in a pocket with keys or coins to get scratches. Just using it while wearing jewelry can cause dings & scuffs with the soft aluminum.

That's a hard sell for me. I roll with a caseless iPhone 4S. I just use screen protectors for scratch protection front & back and I have colored adhesive band protection.

Phone looks great even with daily use while wearing rings and earrings.

I'm not going to stop wearing jewelry so my phone stays scuff & ding free. I. Guess i'll have to wait for iPhone 5s or 6.

So I've had my phone for over a day now and it's been in and out of my pocket all the time and no not a single scuff yet. I was worried for no reason.

Quick question - If the iPhone I ordered from Sprint (hasn't shipped yet) is scuffed out of the box, can I get it swapped out at the Apple Store?
