Who cares where they're made, buy what will protect your phone. I am going to get an Incase Snap, hoping to get a frosted one because they won't scratch up like crystal clear ones.

Rember you the power. Just thinking that this could giving your friend work or maybe you bother. Many USA company can helping making cases and think all that gas taking to sending from China. I thinking this many times and wondering why people not caring to helping their country.

Hi - I'm Jon from Twig Case Co. and we make our laser-engraved handmade cases in Minnesota, in the USA! (since 2011) Our cases are paper and bamboo, and are the only Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) certified Apple accessories out there, as well as the strongest cases made from natural materials on the market. We currently have our iPhone 4 & 4S case for sale at www.twigcase.com, and we will be doing a iPhone 5 case when it's out. (As well as an iPad case!)

I'm happy to answer any questions anyone may have.

Very nice.

I really like your cases. Although iPod/iPhone cases are better at it, its nice to see good looking animal friendly options

Thanks! FSC certification not only means no critters were harmed harvesting the trees, but it also means that our material only comes from sustainable forests - no clear cutting, no unhappy Loraxes! :)

I think important to buying cases made in you country. Iphone 5 here this month. I know form me other post Element case made in USA. Do you recommending other Made in USA case?

It's "impotant" to buy a case made in the USA - yet you're buying a phone made in CHINA. Go figure.

As far as I know, there's no choice of buying a cell phone made in the US. Why not offset that somewhat with accessories that are?

Frankly, that's easier than pressuring manufacturers with a spotty boycott of the second most important communications device ever invented.

The people I know who buy locally made products, buy them when they are available, occasionally go without, and if neither option is workable, they buy foreign. Baby steps, man. Baby steps.

Just curious but do your cases have a lip for the glass? And how thick is the wood? What's the material on the bumper (flexible or hard rubber)?

For a case made out of paper, I'm really curious. Made in the US as well.. hmm...

Our case is milled from a solid block of Richlite, our paper composite. It's the same stuff used as fingerboards on Martin guitars, skateparks, countertops and cutting boards.

No other material is in our case other than our microsuede pads (thicker than anyone else's) and in the case of our bamboo cases, a .6mm FSC® certified bamboo veneer, which is fused to the paper at the Richlite factory. (As the resin that bonds all this together seeps into our bamboo, we're able to do engraving that no one else can, btw. ) and make a stronger natural case than anyone else.

As far as the front, there is a bezel that comes up over the glass, and covers the edge, which protects the screen, and lets to place it face down and look at the swell laser engraving :) I've included pics.

We try and nail all the usual questions on our FAQ: http://www.twigcase.com/pages/faq If you have any that aren't, let me know. I'm happy to blab on at length. :)

What about including a nice screen protector with it? I think that would cover all the bases, eay??

I really like the Vines design. Are you planning to have any special designs for the iPhone 5?

We will shortly be releasing a number of new designs - I can't say if there will be anything exclusive to the iPhone 5 case - I don't think a design on our case will be a motivating factor in purchasing a 5 vs 4/4S, but of course, I could be wrong... :)

A couple of our first designs (It's only Mountains, The Bunker) were done by me ;) for the larger 5 - so they'll reveal more of the picture vs the 4.

We considered it, but people like what they like. The inclusion of a screen protector that some people would throw away, especially now with better glass on the iPhone 5? Our packaging and case contains no plastic, sans the tape for the shipping box, microsuede inside the case, and a rubber band. We were reluctant to add more. :)

Today I going shopping and see large Japanese store JUSCO having no business because Chinese getting together and no buying Japanese products and from Japanese business. When Chinese making decision that something or some country doing harm they sticking together. It making me think a lot because before I buying from them too but is true they doing bad and even if I find hard to change I doing that for better my country.

I remember Mr Jobs saying manufacturing not coming back USA but that only true if people like him who can change things not doing that. I not too smart but I thinking this not so hard figuring out.

I know someone posted about Waterfield Designs earlier, but here is a link to their iPhone 5 smart case:

http://www.sfbags.com/products/iphone-cases/smartcase-iphone.php

I have already preordered this case, it ships in a few weeks. Waterfield makes amazing products, I own one of their Muzetto bags for my Macbook air and I recommend them to anyone. Their prices are a little expensive, but thats because they refuse to take their production out of San Francisco, and since their build quality and craftsmanship is superior I think it is well worth it.

I think it is great to buy domestic whenever possible. Obviously we cannot control where the iPhone is made, but supporting domestic case and accessory manufacturers is certainly a positive thing we can do.

I like what you say Paul, and I think you're pretty smart.

MysterDate - Twig Case... i have some questions

Would you be able to post a video or at least pics of fit & finish? It would be cool to see some of the manufacturing in action and also talk about what steps you take to ensure precision machining and good fit.

How much protection does the case provide for the screen? If you lay the phone in the Twig case, screen side down, flat on a table, how far will the screen be from the table surface? Can I use a screen protector with the case? When will the iPhone 5 cases start coming out? Any more info available about the new designs?

Thanks

I think that be great for USA companies show how their product making, how easy it fit and why they choosing to making it. There so many great company in you country. You supporting will making more companies making made in USA cases. Imagine how you buying may give one more person a job one more person who can go home to his family proud that he can supporting them. This is billion dollar business only because millions people buying it imagine if they change the way they doing things because it the right thing to do. Remember you the power you decision affect your neighbor your country.

I am going to get back to you on some photos and such as I'm working on the iPhone 5 case today :D

Our case is pretty consistently accurate - we've really got it dialed in down to the mouse hair. Every case is tested on one of our iPhones, where we check the fit, the button action, and generally coo over our baby before it goes out the door.

The bezel over the front is about the height of a dime. It varies somewhat due to our hand-finishing. We trust it enough to have our phone in it while block sanding the face. :)

You can use a screen protector, but we recommend ones that do not go under the bezel - which should be most, as our bezel extends just over the little black plastic ring surrounding the screen.

The case is actually really handy for positioning a screen protector, the bezel guides it right on. You could probably do a bigger one that goes under the bezel, but you get bubbles, the case is hard to put on and take off, and the whole thing just isn't "right". So don't do that :)

The iPhone 5 cases we expect to be done and shipping in October, more than that I can't say, but I'm going to go work on that right now!

One more question: Can I get the natural Bamboo in black (black stained)? Thanks for promptly answering my questions. That shows excellent customer support IMO. :)

'Fraid not. We have no stain. I tried a Sharpie, and that looks purple & terrible. I tried a Sakura marker, that looks better but rubs off. I could try zapping all the bamboo off, which would leave an impression of the bamboo in the case, but now we're getting crazy :) I could probably send you a 'raw' bamboo case, un-oiled and unfinished and let you do all the work, but that wouldn't be covered under our warranty. :)
