iPhone 5 Cheap? Over Rated? Is it Better?

Ever step back to think that these long winded rants from new people are paid bloggers? I have read a few of them on this board and can tell you there are some consistencies that would suggest to me that they are PR pushes. This one specifically fits that mold. Just my 2 cents.

Paid Blogger... My rant is to be happy as I am with my 4S, If someone wants to pay me 5 bucks to be my normal ***** self then I'm down with that LMAO ...
I just have questions bro before I spend my Ole' Mighty Dollar... as a matter of fact another reason I ask all these questions is cause I have kids and a wifey so Im not buying 1 phone Im buying 3 at the same time... If I come home with a new phone just for me and the wifey and the kid have Nada.... well lets just say I will never get a chance to make another kid... and when it comes to the phone im the guy who has to set everyones stuff up... well not my son anymore he is good with technology .... They hit 12 yrs old and make ya feel like ya never used a piece of electronics before LOL ... Kicks my ass on the ps3 too lol Just made another 7 dollars from sony tight there! lol

Unfortunately, iphone 5 compared to 4s feels in hand like a cheap toy - design decision solely based on competing with samsung galaxy s3. Frankly speaking, it was hard time for me to decide which one feels cheaper. Will keep my 4s until apple will come up with something more reasonable. It should scratch like hell - if they manage to sell ones that are dinged/scratched out of the box, I can only imagine what it will looke like after 6 months of normal use.

I've had every iPhone that there has been and I got the 5 as well. I feel it's the best one yet.

Big phones like that are not for everyone but for me it allows me to sale my Nexus 7 and stick with only one device that fits in my pockets (no tight jeans here). Heck, even the Nexus 7 fits in the majority of my pants pockets.

Ironically, when I was at the DMV yesterday and this guy has his note on his back pocket (taking up like 90% of real estate there) plus sagging his pants. Just thought it was funny to see.

Back to topic, I think everyone is expecting way too much for Apple nowadays. But I feel then iPhone is a really big leap forward.

The lighter weight is from using aluminum instead of glass on the back. People complained that the glass broke. Now people are complaining that the aluminum is too light. I don't get it. Yes, it takes some getting used to, but after a day I was fine with it. I like the 5, and think it's a vast improvement over the 4S. It's faster, has LTE, slightly better battery life, and has a little more screen room without being bulky.

I've held the S3 and the iPhone 5 looks and feels more premium.

After 5 days of normal use, it looks brand new. If you are careful with it, it should hold up well.

Ahhhh The New iPhone 5 is here, I really must say excitement filled my blood as I went to the store to finally hold it and see what it had to offer. Then disappointment set in. The phone does not look much different as the screen doesn’t jump out and say look how big I got. To me it seems as it got a little bigger and a lot cheaper.

The feel of the glass on the back was gone, the phone was already scuffed up, and it didn’t feel like a new amazing product. I kept starring back at my 4S in my hand and saying what the hell am I getting here with the new 5. I have been checking out many phones because my contract expires in a week. When I think of Apple I always think Im getting something revolutionary.

When I first got the 3 I remember looking at it like a piece of art, it was beautiful. But after many years of the same look its getting old and stale. Its like buying art and hanging in the wall, for many months ya stare at it, appreciate it, and 5 years later you almost forget it’s on the wall.

I hate to say it but the 5 seems to be forgotten already as it’s the same phone look only cheaper, and everyone here can agree the quality feel is diminished, and you pretty much starring at the same phone. How many years do I want the same look. Then I saw the Jimmy Kimmel skit on SNL and realized I was right. Lets take a look at what it comes with because the advertising is quoting physics and ear phones neither of what I think about when I get a phone.

I want to compare the phone to whats out there so I can say hey look at what I got!!!, but we are not getting much more. A new processer yeah that’s the best part, I cant deny that its speedy and its what it needs. When we dig deeper is where it gets sad. The screen looks no better than the one I have, and if it looks different to anyone other than its larger …..heck check your brightness lol… I see Samsung and HTC and have to say the screens look the same.

Gorilla glass and a nice picture… The battery is only 2 mah larger still at about 1400 mah. One of the crappiest batteries on the market. Compare talk times…. It’s a smart phone talking is the last thing Id compare when it comes to a battery, how bout apps and being on the web, Apple is using software to conserve the juice, how about a comparable 2100 mah battery, I don’t care if the phone thinner cause it doesn’t feel that thin compared to my 4S. Comes with 1 gig a RAM … why not 2, and the thing that pisses me off the most is the new connector… This connector probably wont work with my car stereo and my home audio equipment, so they screwed me there.

Video out NONE unless I buy Apple TV sure I’m going to do that right away…NOT… How about a SD card, NFC to share NO , NO, NO…. Its a smart phone that’s limited. Now we have to lookout because Android will soon be open source and that’s when all good things happen. I cant have flash, why? Only biggest thing on the web right?? Why do you keep telling me what third parties I can use or cant use…why?

With Android and Open Source People get to do what they want, the freedom , the choice. Apple is making our phone more and more limited, and using Itunes frankly sucks. A friend has a Galaxy S3 and wireless transfers and sharing on that device are amazing. He has tons of apps all free, his music all on the SD card might I add it’s a 64 gig card…. So I look back at the i5 and say why don’t I have that…. When I compare he has more features than us and this is the NEW phone… Why ….

With Apple its always next time , and maybe, I want it now… Im tired of hearing this is the best IPhone ever… It should be it’s the newest phone dummy… But is it the best phone or are we trapped by the persona of Apple and stuck with all the money we spent with Itunes that we can bring over to another phone. I think that’s the issue its like a bad marriage its cheaper to keep her… then I will just lie to everyone and say I have the most advanced device on earth.All the upgrades reall just brought us up to industry standards and we are still lacking.

Is that what Apple once was, is that what they are? I think we got the short end of the stick , and the new maps that don’t work right that’s awesome, do I need a high up view of city, im driving in a car not a helicopter…panoramic pictures, what a joke everyone has it already. But we get new headphones cant wait for the free gift. Make your choices Im going to make mine soon, but with Apple I want more . I don’t think we got it, Maybe next year, next time.

To me the new iPhone is the phone to buy if you like having a smaller regular sized phone. If you look at android and how they play up the "variety" angle, there is not one single high end android phone with a screen smaller than 4.5", and if I wanted to go android I would have to pick one of those larger phones which I do not want. And yes, I've tried them, had a one x for 4 months before selling it. The phone was beautiful, but had to flaws, one was android and the other was that it was too large. To me, the innovation is cramming all those high end specs in a phone that is smaller, lighter, and thinner than all the rest while still keeping good battery and good build quality.

Well, I guess it's a matter of choice - to replace broken glass back or to live with badly scratched aluminium one. Difficult choice for me. LTE and faster performance? 4S is fast enough for me. But that is my choice, enjoy your 5

Neverthless, I can't understand why apple did not go with stainelss steel back - yes, it would be a bit heavier, but you would feel, that you have high quality piece in your hand, much more resistant to scratches, like iphone4s.

i personally think the i5 looks and feels much better then its predecessors, the matte finish feels great and the phone was extremely solid as it always is(when i went to the verizon store to check it out) Also i have a S3 and i can very much tell you the apps on the Play store are not as good as they are on iOS. coming from a 4S to a S3, i miss the more quality apps that were on the app store compared to the play store. The play store is not bad at all dont get me wrong, but the app store has more quality apps that run better then its competitors.

RF is also a consideration. Plus, stainless steel scratches, as well. Actually on the white iPhone, aluminum is likely to show scratches a lot less than stainless steel. It isn't as if my MacBook Air has lots of scratches (or any, for that matter) after months of usage.
