Everyone talks about a notification light. I still don't think it's necessary.. but if one is added, I'd prefer it to be IN the home buttong, not around it. The white square that is currently there - make that illuminate.

Now that's a very nice mock-up OP. Although i feel that the iPhone 5's edges will be more tapered, iPad 2 or iPhone 3GS-like.

Other than that, i hope it looks exactly like this. Keep it up!

You should replace the word 'locked' with 'subsidized'. You could still buy one off contract from AT&T for full price that is locked. :)

P.S. Wicked concept! This is by far my favorite. If it looks anything like this I will most likely purchase one.

Just curious how it maintains a similar band around the phone, adds a curve around the back side, yet loses 2mm in overall width? I'd assume for the only way for that to happen is for the band to be much thinner than on the iP4...which would make the volume buttons and mute switch much smaller than they currently are...which wouldn't be a very pleasant experience IMO.

On the rest of it...other than a slight curve to the rear panel, it's basically the same overall feel of the iP4, making that a no go for me. I hate having the sides of the device flat. That's why I'm still waiting to use my upgrade that has been available since Feb (well, did try out an Atrix for 30 days..but too many issues). I'm sure the slight curve would help a bit with the ergo, but I hope they just completely do away with the flat band around the device.

Nice job! You should have sent this into Apple 6 months ago before they started their prototypes.

i have to agree with most of comments. Very awesome job here and most likely what i think the new IP5 will look like if we do see a bigger screen. This render is more then a few levels above anything else I've seen.

edit:
I need to add that the IP4 is my first iphone. I was a long time BB user so seeing a LED notification would be awesome. That is the single thing i miss about the BB and I do hope the IP5 or even IP6 has this included.

Very impressive :D

If I were you, I would apply for a job at apple and attached these with your resume. I'm sure it would get noticed.
Impressive? Taking a design that Apple spent millions on getting to the iPhone 4 state as we know it, and then copying it exactly, just making it a little thinner, wider, with a slightly larger screen? My 10 year old daughter could do that...

Your 10 year old daughter is definitely on her way to becoming the next Steve Jobs then :D

Clearly not, but the fact that somebody could think those renders are "impressive" kinda' baffles me. Had he done that BEFORE they announced iPhone 4, then I'd have been impressed. As it stands, all it shows is a relatively poor understanding of how to use the 3D package of choice.

Easy there fella. Obviously it's not some new revolutionary design he just came up with all on his own, but compared to the current iP5 designs out there this one takes the cake. If you came up with a rendering that looked good according to rumors out there I would say you did impressive work as well... but unfortunately you have not. Move along.

I guess some people are more easily pleased than others. I wouldn't mind, but the phone design itself is completely unoriginal, and worse, the actual rendering itself (regardless of content) is not that good either. So, what is there to be impressed by?

People are just quick to latch onto the design that most closely resembles what they've already got in their pocket.

Your right in a way, all I did were add simple changes.. Slimmer, thinner aluminum rim, LED notification light, bigger screen..

I took the design of the iPhone 4, the one that sold millions upon millions and is heavily praised for its elegant and beautiful design, and changed it ever so slightly to resemble what others want: Bigger screen, LED, slightly changed design.

I did this, with the thought of being realistic, ergonomic and precise, knowing that Apple wouldnt go crazy and add a 4.3" screen, make it 2mm thin and add a crap load of other stuff.

You probably came here, thinking youd see a complete redesign. Maybe it being circle in shape and having 3 poles stick out, that when touched, form a cube.. I dont know..

My point is, this is a realistic design. No wishful thinking, no pointless features. Because sometimes completely radical changes and redesigns, can throw off your audience.

a very good render.

btw OP, i put your image on reddit and it got tons of views there :p

NICE. Add the 3D perspective to it too? :D

You mean like the change from the 3g/s to the 4? From every view but looking directly at the front it's a complete, radical change. I think it did okay in terms of sales.

I would bet on the phone losing the band around the phone, and for 2 reasons. The controversy over the antenna and the ergonomics.

My guess is that Apple started making iPhone 5 prototypes much longer than 6 months ago. They strike me as a company that is always designing and testing new potential models. Sending it 6 months ago would be more in line with iPhone 6, as I am sure they have numerous iPhone 6 prototypes by now.

I was regarding smaller revisions. Think 3G>3GS
