Take out some of the redundancy and make it smaller. If you have inductive charging, you may be able to get away with that.

With wireless iTunes sync, I think iPhone 5 might truly "Cut the Cord" (or whatever Apple called it in their iOS 5 release). Even having one of those magnetic pins like on MacBook wouldn't be as bad because at least it would disconnect if you picked up your iPhone while it was charging accidentally.
