I love it. I did start looking at the ground because when I drop it into my pocket I don't feel the weight and feel like I might have dropped it on the floor.

Am I the only one who prefers the weight of the iPhone 4/4S?

I've held off on ordering the iPhone 5 for a bit, but have now had a chance to play with one at the Apple Store.

The iPhone 4 just feels so much more substantial and solid to me...and I like that. That bit of heft is actually comforting and reinforces the quality of the phone to me every time I pick it up.

The new phone just feels way too light. Kind of gives it a cheap feel. But I guess it'll probably grow on me.

Any thoughts from those upgrading from the 4/4S?

I like it. I agreed the 4 had a substantial heft that made it feel solid. But the 5 still feels solid too.

Too light? Nonsense. It's gonna be a pleasure to run with one. Feels great to me. The iPhone 4 was starting to feel like a brick. Light, but still a solid feel.

I agree that it feels tool light. It doesn't necessarily feel cheap, but my 4s feels (to me) to be of higher quality.

I'm sure the 5 is at least as durable as the 4/4s, but somehow the 4/4s phones feel better to me. They weight exactly as much as they look like they should weigh. Picking up a 5 reminds me of picking up an almost-empty milk carton in the refrigerator.

After using both iphone 5 and 4S, I to prefer the weight of the 4S. Wish they would have kept the same thickness as the iphone 4S with a thicker battery for longer use. That is just me, but we are entitled to our opinions ;)

I think the real question is why do so many people associate weight with build quality?

The 4s is heavier because its glass, in fact JUST the backplate on the 4s weighs a hair less than the entire chassis assembly of the 5.

Not only that, but the 5 is more durable and way easier to fix.

So I just really don't get it.

The iPhone 5 feels great with a slim case on it (I have the Incipio Feather).

Basically now you can have an iPhone with a decently protective case snapped on and it's still slightly lighter than an iPhone 4/4S.

It felt too light when I first held one at the Apple store. I'm sure a case could fix that. If you do keep it bare, just make sure you have a good grip on it if it's really windy.

This is no over dramatization or exageration. Just after a few days of using the iPhone 5 my girlfriend's iPhone 4 feels like an outdated brick.

I welcome the new weight.

Simple, work out less and eat more junk food. Slowly the iPhone will start to feel heavier and problem solve!

It feels cheap but when you see what materials it's built of you think maybe not

With a blindfold holding the 5 and an S3 you can't tell a difference, they both feel less premium

:)

Yeah it's too light, it's too powerful, screen is too tall, it's too thin.. First world problems..

too light? Nah.... SUPER LIGHT, no doubt, it blows my mind.... but nothing "Too" light about it.

Too thin, however, could be a problem for me.... but it isn't.

Also they said this time they were using gorilla glass II. A more sturdy glass that will hold up better to drops and such. But never played with one so can't comment. Maybe I'll goto apple store soon just to see what all the fuss is about. But as for 4s my dad has one and its not that heavy. Brick - schmick its not that bad.

I say don't buy one, and let others who have a pair get the iPhone 5. Your main goal right now is to find out when you lost them, dawg....

the heavier it is the harder its gonna drop, so being lighter would cause less damage.
sounds good to me.:)

WOW you need to go back to school man. Gravity accelerates all objects at the same rate. The force of gravity acting on an object near Earth's surface is proportional to the mass of the object, but it is the acceleration that is the constant even though the force varies.

Gravitational attraction
F = G m₁m₂/r²
G = 6.67e-11 m³/kgs²
m₁ and m₂ are the masses of the two objects in kg
r is the distance in meters between their centers (center of mass)

F=ma

combine the two

ma = G m₁m₂/r²
mass cancels
a = Gm₂/r² where m₂ is the mass of the earth.

I've had the 3GS, 4, 4S and I'm not missing the weight with the iPhone 5. After a day or so of using it you will get used to it.
