It maintains the overall shape of the iPhone 4 which I like. I don't like the idea of the tapered design. Looks too much like a 3GS or an iPod.

Depends on where the center of gravity is. You are assuming that this design is top heavy when in fact, the bottom could be all battery.Again with the taper. An answer to a question nobody asked.
Do you know how unstable that thing would be trying to sit in a dock? It'd snap the connector off in no time.
That reminds me of the Nokia Sea Ray. You'd also hope they include a little plastic bag with it, into which you could scoop the remains of your phone after you drop it.
i would love to have the old design modernized! a bit slimmer the chrome bezel toned down and it would be awesome. it was honestly the best iphone design.
