I haven't been back here in a while and thought I'd share my experience with a replaced iphone 5. I am still having the issue where it takes a minute or longer to get back on LTE in a strong LTE area. It's either an issue with the communication chip or iOS. Today I had to reboot the device because I was in an LTE area and had no data even though I had full bars. It's frustrating.

I work in the business. I see it everyday plus I experience it about twice a day on my phone. It's not a carrier problem because I have an HTC One X and it switches to LTE and 4G seamlessly. I love apple COMPUTERS but I'm convinced they have lost it. I mean the 5 has things androids have HAD. I'm going to switch I think. Nobody ever wants to blame apple.

Yep, I'm the same issues with my 32 GB AT&T iPhone 5. I've lost data connection about 3 times in about 5 days. Once, I was able to fix by toggling LTE on/off, but the other times I had to reboot. I hope they fix this soon. Very frustrating! I'm tempted to go Android if these problems persist.

iPhone 5 LTE issues

I called AT&T and told them that my phone does the same thing (go to browser, circle spins, no loading). I fix it by toggling airplane mode. AT&T immediately told me it was an Apple problem not a network problem before I even finished my sentence. So, I do not know. I have contacted apple yet.

Not just lost LTE but 4G too. I have to reset phone (complete off/on) to get data back. During no data time, touch screen was not responsive or act eratic. Will visit Apple for checkup.

I have been having the same frustrating problem! The only thing I can do is reset my phone and even that isn't full proof. Has anybody been able to replace there iphone 5 for a new one, and NOT had any issues with with LTE or connecting to data? I read that a few people have replaced them with no luck... I guess I am just looking for some glimmer of hope with this data ADHD iPhone 5...

Yeah I've had this issue too.. I seem to lose my data connection on my iPhone 5 whenever I leave my home wifi range (despite full bars LTE). So frustrating! Apple is blaming AT&T and AT&T is blaming Apple. My friend who has the Samsung s3 doesn't experience after disconnecting from my wifi and he's on AT&T with LTE.

I've had AT&T since the day the 3Gs launched and both it and the 4s worked perfectly, other Android phones, as well. The iPhone 5 has been a data connection nightmare. I've already had Apple replace it once - it dropped right while the person was working on it, spoken to AT&T on the phone several times, but it loses data all over town.

From what i can tell, if I get in a marginal connection area, the data drops and never reconnects. This is most apparent when I'm in a call. I use a headset when i talk so I always see the screen, and see there is no data connection at all. Sometimes when i hang up the data returns or says Edge for many many hours. Sometimes it never returns and I have to restart the phone. Sometimes even that doesn't help.
I've tried every combination of settings, nothing helps.

Neither Apple nor AT&T claimed to have ever heard of the problem.
I'm going to trade my mom for her 4s, she doesn't use data ;)
