I read plenty.
Sprint's LTE network is still in the testing phase in a few select cities with no devices or subscribers on it.
The only live 4G network they have is WiMax. ;)

Sprint will be deploying TD-LTE, so no cross compatibility with Verizon or AT&T devices. (yes, AT&T and Verizon's LTE networks are actually compatible from a radio chip-set and antenna perspective, it's only a programming change in the radio)

Some people will be lucky to get on their re-purposed 800Mhz band once they kill of their iDen network. Should have good building penetration with that band.
Most users will be stuck on the 1900Mhz or 2500Mhz bands.

Verizon and AT&T want this device. And they have the means to out-bid(?) Sprint and have the ip5 when it comes out. Just my thought on the subject.

1. The thread, absurd as it is, was about whether or not Sprint would have enough LTE customers to even consider such a thing.
2. If you read the link, they are aiming for 123 million subscribers this year on their LTE.
3. Yeah...they have none now and you also have no idea when the new phone will drop.

Don't get me wrong...I'd be willing to bet money that what was posted will not happen....but your post about Wimax added nothing to the discussion.

Makes no business sense for apple, and the likelihood of sprint giving apple a boatload of money isn't feasible.

Many investors/pundits aren't even sure sprint will survive the year given the money they need to spend to roll out LTE and meet other obligations.

Finally Sprint really didn't see an increase in new members because of the iPhone, there was a report floating around the net stating that the iPhone 4 didn't attract any real appreciable new customers

Very pathetic article. I can get more than 21 Facebook likes and 51 Tweets with a picture of my breakfast. They are comparing brand spanking new LTE to stop-gap-filling WiMax

Maybe so, but it makes Sprint look that much worse knowing that they chose WIMAX when the other 2 carriers, and essentially the rest of the world was planning on deploying LTE. It doesn't seem very business savvy to sink all of your resources into WIMAX only to later make the switch to LTE. Also WIMAX wasn't introduced as a "stop-gap" Sprint thought they would be able to survive with it until clear wire went under. Dan Hesse isn't necessarily the smartest man in business right now.

WiMax was a stop-gap for sure. There's not going to be any mention of it inside of Sprint of course. As I've stated before, Sprint has the slowest network by far, always has. They've used just about every trick in the book to keep from bleeding customers.

Sprint jumped on the WiMax bandwagon to try to get that leg up . . . why else would they sign up for a technology NO ONE ELSE in the wireless industry was using?

They spent millions on that gamble just like AT&T (at the time) sunk millions into the iPhone. Hesse isn't doing a good job, but NO ONE is that blind. If there was someone out there that considered WiMax to be Sprint's "IT" then please don't think about starting a business any time soon.

Again, the only thing going for Sprint right now is the price of the plans and that's probably the ONLY thing keeping the company afloat.

According to The Verge http://www.theverge.com/2012/4/18/2956899/4g-3g-speed-test-att-verizon-tmobile-sprint-fastest-carrier Sprints "4G" is slower than 3G. Sprint has the worst network in the states, and already bet the farm by selling the iPhone period.

Actually, the NETWORK is more than just upload and download speeds. The device you use is PRIMARILY a phone. I get max signal strength everywhere with Sprint down here in Jacksonsville, NC. Granted, the data speeds are slow, but that's not the only measurement of the network.

And actually, it's not according to the Verge, it's according to a study done by other people. The Verge just reported it. And yes, it seems that the only criteria for "the network" is data speeds and nothing else. Which is pretty lame.

Data speeds might be a little more irrelevant on a dumb phone/feature phone but on a smartphone good data speeds are a must!

There's a word I'm looking for to describe what I'm thinking about this thread:

Oh, right. Thats it!

Not even worth that.

From the Sprint website:

4G LTE is coming to Sprint

Sprint 4G LTE is expected mid-year 2012 in Atlanta, Baltimore, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City and San Antonio! Sign up to be notified when 4G LTE is headed to your area.
Upgrade to LTE in Southwest Florida starts in August as well :D

4g LTE

I stay in Jacksonville Florida and wanted to share that we got 4G 3 days ago , speeds are BLAZING fast !
