Will LTE Network worked on the iPhone 5 using straight talk??

No - AT&T hasn't given MVNOs access onto their LTE network, and we aren't sure when/if they will in the future.

Also, using a 4S iOS 6 and ST no problem - installed APN settings via Unlockit and Straight Talk as carrier during the download.

I backup-ed the iPhone 4S using iCloud and then restored to the iPhone 5. It kept the data settings (APN, proxy, etc) previously downloaded from the iPhone 4S from http://www.unlockit.co.nz. For Straight Talk to work, in the unlockit web site you have to choose ATT Virtual with Proxy.

Question! Any idea if this would work on an iPhone 5? I don't have an older iPhone to restore from..

I just got my iPhone 5 (AT&T version) unlocked from the Apple Store paying the full price.

I have cutted the Straight Talk Micro SIM following the great instructions from Christian von der Ropp published here: http://www.iclarified.com/24489/printable-nanosim-and-microsim-cutting-guide-download.

I used sharp scissors (Fiskars from Office Depot) to cut the micro SIM to the new nano SIM format.

The thickness of the original Straight Talk SIM is perfect for the new iPhone 5, as it comes inside the drawer of the iPhone 5 without any kind of extra mod. Just cutting to the new shape.

Facetime over cellular works great.
MMS is working too?

Solution

pList editing in iOS 5 and restoring with iBackupBot on a non-jailbroken iPhone has never worked for me. Something always resets the APNs to the default "phone" one. It does the same thing in iOS 6 too.

The only way I can get data & MMS working on a non-jailbroken iPhone is by:

1. Opening the Notes app (or any other stock app)

2. Going to Settings > General > Network

3. Taking the Straight Talk SIM out and putting in a T-Mobile SIM (can be brand new & unactivated. mines is)

4. Go into Cellular Data Network when it shows up

5. Immediately put the Straight Talk SIM back in

6. Multitask between Cellular Data Network and the Notes app back and forth until a signal from Straight Talk comes in and the default non-working data & MMS APN are automatically entered.

7. Once the APNs show up, edit them manually

8. Go toggle Airplane Mode on and off, and reboot the phone

Data and MMS now work fine.

Cellular Data
APN: att.mvno

MMS
APN: att.mvno

Password: *blank*
MMSC: http://www.mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.33:80
MMS Max Message Size: 1048576
MMS UA Prof URL: http://www.apple.com/mms/uaprof.rdf

I can confirm 100% that this method still works in iOS 6 GM.

Google "Straight Talk iPhone HowardForums Wiki" and what I explained above is on that page too. The entire site is down as of this post so I explained it as best as I could.

NO Settings>General>Network

Mac8a,

The only problem with the above is that there is NO Settings>General>Network on my ATT iPhone 4s running IOS 6.

Any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Just finishing setting up 2 iphone 5 on straight talk from the 4s. I was able to setup MMS, Text, Data and voice all with out any issues. On top of that the phone is factory unlocked since it was without any commitments which means it has been hactivated/activated for good. I just cut the microsim down to size ensuring the horizontal lines match along with the center lines. I am happy to say that I am hitting 6.99mbps down and 1.01mbps upload on 3g HSPA+. NO LTE ON STRAIGHT TALK.

How?

A small explanation of how you got MMS to work would be deeply appreciated ;)

How much did you pay for your iphone 5?

I have an iPhone 4S but I'm stuck on iOS 6 land with the MMS not working...That's why i'm asking.

I used the flip flop trick and made sure that when I plugged in a foreign sim and as soon as cellular data popped up you go in and program the info. It should all still stay in place when you swap over straight talk if not you have like 20 seconds before it removes the cellular data function for you to edit manually. I just followed the instruction and was able to use sim flip flop and program apn for data and mms. Text works instant along with voice if sim is provisioned and you just cut it to nano size.

I paid FULL PRICE $650 but phone is now unlocked factory. I sold my 4s for $509 unlocked and dumped $140 into the iphone 5. I got the 4s for $150 on a contract and due to a loop hole I was able to terminate all 3 lines with no ETF 1.5 month after signing up with sprint and jump ship to straight talk and been with them for 7 months now.

Just a quick update guys:
iPhone 4S with iOS6 installed is absolutely fine in terms of APN.

I'm wondering if Apple will allow us to edit the MMS settings in a factory unlocked phone from Apple.

I will be purchasing the full price phone when it's released and stick either a nano straight talk sim card or a cut down version.

I'm hoping I won't have to do the T-Mobile sim swap to get it to work seeing as how it's a factory unlocked phone.

I have heard on other boards that ST will be coming out with Nano SIMs on or about October 15th, so that may save a few of you from SIM-cutting errors... :)

As for speed, HPSA+ is good enough for me so ST will be fine.

sim cutting is easy and very forgiving. I would not wait till oct 15th. I have been using my microsim cut down to nano sim with just tracing another sim on top and cutting with pair of scissors since launch day.

Check my T-Mobile thread. T-Mobile started getting nano SIM cards Saturday.

Got the Iphone 5 ios 6.02 working!

I ordered a Simple Mobile SIM for 99c from ebay. Tried the instructions aBove.
Pulled the ST sim card out, popped the Simple Mobile one in after a few seconds I was able to access APN settings and edit, but when I tried to put the ST sim card back the settings would go away.
Before going to the tool shed and grabbing the hammer I did one more try.
I was in the main settings menu. Took out ST sim, popped SM in. underneath Airplane, WIFI and Blutooth a new toggle switch appeared:"Carrier" Turned that OFF. Went to General-Cellular. Swapped the cards again and Voila! I was able to change the APN settings. Rebooted and worked as a charm!

Good Luck guys! I hope this helps
