I never understood why people would spend money on something they can get for free if they searched a little. Call it supporting your neighborhood start-up, show me the free apps, and I'm a customer for life.

So, you're going to trust all your Login ID's & Passwords and Credit Card Numbers & PIN Number's to some no name company just because they gave you an app for free? Yeah, I'm sure they totally have proper security around the app and don't do anything unsafe with your data.

No thanks. For sensitive info such as this, I'll pay a bit of money to a trusted and proven company that knows a thing or two about Personal Data security. You can have fun with the start up company and hope they aren't stealing your data, since they don't get any money from the application. I'll use free apps for a lot of things, but PII data is not one of them.

BTW - Another vote for 1Password. OP - My advice, don't skimp out when it comes to this. A few $ now is better than thousands of $ and negative credit scores when you're info gets stolen or hacked from some startup's servers.

That's exactly the reason I got mSecure. Password repository too important to skimp on.

Stop. You're trying to justify your poor choice of purchasing a product just because the masses gave it good reviews or everyone "else has it, so it must be good...". Well the keeper got just as many great reviews and there has never been an incident with identity theft with it. So congrats on purchasing your app, and I'm glad you enjoy it. But don't try to discourage anyone from purchasing an app with mostly the same features with scare tactics and playing on people's conscious. You must be a developer...it's all good.

I was using Keeper until they wanted $10/year/device to sync all my devices.

I recently migrated everything to eWallet with iCloud integration for OS X and iOS.

So, I made a poor decision when I use an app based a proven security company which I inestigated their history and track record, plus they have good reviews, but you're a genius cause you found a similar one, based on reviews. Guess what? Keeper isn't free. Yes, you can get the bare bones limited basic version for free, but to get all the features I have with 1Password, you'd have to pay $10/mo. Let's see. I paid $40 total. If I use it for a year, I've still paid $40. How much will you have paid after a year? $120? How about after 2 years? Still $40 vs $240. Congrats. You're so much smarter than me.

No, I'm not a developer, but I can appreciate good work from a developer or company, and don't mind paying them for that work. I don't think that all developers should have to give me their hard earned work for free, as if I'm entitled to it. And I especially am concerned with my identity and credit, so yes, I'm more comfortable paying a proven company for proven security. The OP asked for opinions. That's my opinion and recommendation to him. If you don't like it, too bad. Enjoy your free password Keeper app. I'll happily enjoy the 1Password app.

Any of the apps mentioned in this thread available for Android AND integrate with NFC? Just trying to look ahead at the next iPhone(5s?). If I'm going to invest in an app I would much rather spend $$ on one that is already developing within the NFC space.

Thanks

I'm using 1Password, hubby uses eWallet, both work well. Not sure if any have NFC integration yet, but that's not important to me, just check with them directly.

I never understood why people have a problem paying for quality software.

The 99 cent app completely distorted people's thinking when it comes to software. Many of them don't even think of the quality of the software or the mileage they're going to get out of it over the span of months or years. It's like now they see something over $2.99 and deem it ridiculously priced.

Datavault since it syncs to iCloud and allows one purchase to be used on multiple iOS devices. 5 or 6 i think.

Do any of these apps autofill your Apple ID password? I'm SO tired of typing that every time I download an app.

1Password does. It has an extension that installs in Safari or Chrome. I think Firefox too but I'm not 100% on that. With iOS 1Password uses its own browser.

1Password for me and my iOS devices, OS X and Windows all tie in to my dropbox account.

Ease of use and reliable.

Another vote for 1password.

Another vote for 1password.

Same here, 1Password is awesome.

Well since you asked--1Password on my phone, iMac, and MacBook Pro.

Do you guys understand the purpose of the +1 upvote button at the bottom right of each post? If you have nothing additional to contribute to the conversation besides simple agreement with an individual, just click the "up" button. What you are doing is only clogging up the discussion. Think how much nicer it would be if every one of you refrained from making a generic +1-type comment and simply used the +1. Then it would be easy to see at a glance "Oh i see 1Password has X votes, lastpass has Y votes, keeper has Z votes, etc"

If you have constructive comments adding value, discussing features, comparing competitors etc, then great, please comment. Please don't take offense, I'm trying not to be rude. I wasn't going to say anything at all but then I saw there were over 10 comments doing it, and I just thought I would speak up.

Now, not to waste my comment entirely, I'll talk about password managers. OP it really depends on your use case. If you simply want to store passwords in a locked location on your iPhone, there are numerous free apps to accomodate that. However LastPass and 1Password are probably the best apps out there. They provide cross platorm integration, auto log-in, and more. I've been using 1Password for a few years, and I really do think it's great. However, If you buy Mac and iOS (universal) you are looking at like $50 or so (I don't know the current prices, sometimes there are sales). Lastpass, I've heard many good things about as well and I know it's very inexpensive (I think there is actually a free version with limited functionality).

MiniKeePass because it's a port of open source cross-platform KeePass. It syncs via Dropbox, so you can access pw's archive from almost ANY PC/Mac/Android/iOS/Symbian/BB/Palm.

With all due respect, I'm not trying to be rude either, but does it matter? Were we going to use this space for some other alternative purpose like the trying to calculate the remainder digits of PI or something? It's a discussion on password managers. Who cares if each person posts one sentence stating what the use or a paragraph or two. It's all contained in the thread. If the OP wanted it done differently, they could have created a Poll. But if they didn't, who cares what is posted. If someone doesn't like this format, don't read the thread.
