I get what you are saying... I just recently got an atrix after using iOS since before the appstores release and I have to say that I am impressed with how the Android OS runs on it (after being rooted.) It's very smooth and you can do a ton with it. However, you have less control of what happens to your info and it seems as if stuff is always running in the background, eating away at my battery.
On the other hand, the iOS ecosystem is fantastic for several reasons. There are restrictions, yet at the same time you don't have to worry about downloading a malicious app. In the end (it seems as if) a majority of iPhone users mainly use their phone for texting, calling, checking Facebook (twitter, instagram, etc...), and music anyway so they have no desire for customization. For the hardware side, I think Apple got it right with the 4 in screen. Anything bigger and you can't fit it in your pocket (exaggerating of course.) The LTE is very good, hopefully it doesn't drain battery in real world scenarios. The OS however is stale. They don't seem to be updating it like the need to. People will (are) start(ing to) getting tired of the same thing.
In conclusion, they have a great device. Compared to android it may be a step behind, but at the same time it is a thousand steps ahead.
And that is just what I think about the whole thing...
Yes I understand your points. I've been using iOS for about 4+ years. But I do feel the iOS is stale. The limitations are what are now driving me to Android. Apple will only let you do what Apple want you to do with the device you pay for. They need to develope new features, nt spend tie copying what Google have done very well.
I've been an avid fan of apple over the past years. But they have just done to many things that I feel we're not ethical. For example, limiting Sirri to only people who had a 4s. Anyone with a iPhone 4 or earlier could not have this feature. This angered me and I feel Apple have cheated some of its user base.
The continual law suits going on. Apple were not the first to create a tablet. They claim they created Apps, again, this is just marketing hype.
All in I don't feel I can trust Apple any more to look after the end user.

Google Maps hasn't evolved a bit in the past 10 years. Every time you scroll or zoom, you have to download a new array of JPEGs. How's that better than Apple's true vector graphics?
The limitation is not google but Apple's poor integration that forces you to download the Array. Googles Photo and 2.5D view and orbit tools are amazing Google features Apple chose not impliment on iOS.

Hmmmm... I'm interested to hear what you thought about the iPhone 4S when it was released.
It looked EXACTLY like the previous iPhone... no screen size increase at all. And no LTE either.
Yet they sold 80 million of them over the last year... and made Apple one of the largest companies in the world.
I have a hunch this next iPhone's sales will be insane too.
New cable? Why is that an issue? You didn't have a problem with the old proprietary cable... why should you with the new proprietary cable?
Maps? Download ANY map app, including Google's. I hear there are a lot of cool apps in Apple's App Store.
At the time I looked at the Phone and thought, why upgrade? Have regretted it since.
This sums it up nicely.

You have no idea what you are talking about. The iPhone 5 will be the first mobile phone with the dual core A15 processor. This processor allows the i5 to run longer, cooler and faster than anything else that exists in the market.
It also allows the phone to be lighter. As far as the screen goes. I weighed the S3 as my next phone but when you start sticking phones with such large screens in your back pocket they tend to crack if you ever sit down. The 3.5" screen has been solid in my back pocket for years. I'm hoping the 4" gives me a little more real estate without causing structural weakness.
I went through four iPhone 3 due to faulty hardware. My iPhone 4 has been better but again the button on the front is warn out.
Apple hardware is not more relighable than other Phones. I still have a Nokia that works fron 2003. It's a brick but still works.
It's more about the technology and how it aids your daily routine. Apple iOS is now boring. Just look at what Android are ding on teir latest OS. It's really amazing.

Really great list but you didn't list anything really based on facts.
Especially about maps where Apple did a surprising good job. I loved google maps and was nervous about the prospect of losing the app. However, after using Apple Maps for the last month(on my soon to be old phone), I don't miss google maps at all.
My points are valid ad factual.
I'm also tired of Apple limiting features to their user base. Siri is a classic example of how Apple do not look after you once you have invested in them. Anyone with a iphone prior to the iPhone 4s are not able to have this feature on their phone. This disgusted me after being an avid supporter of the iPhone from day 1. I've learnt this lesson too many times with Apple. Where is Apples loyalty to the customer. Long gone.

I think they got you on tape saying the same thing.
