After some unscientific testing I found that the respring is most likely to happen when I close apps or switch between apps. I guess this has something to do with the new zooming effect of the homescreen. Very annoying. I have no issue with all the design of iOS 7 but I hate this springboard crashing bug.

Go into Settings/General/About. Scroll down to Diagnostic & Usage, then go into Diagnostic & Usage Data.

If you have any entries called PANIC.PLIST then your iPhone has an hardware issue and will need to be replaced.

That's not necessarily true. I've had them happen, had that error and did a restore and clean set up and things were fine.

A vast amount of them might indicate a hardware problem, especially if they were happening in a store time. But a handful across an extended period could go either way.

That said it might be worth making sure backups are up to date and making an appointment for it to be looked at.

There are at least two other threads in macrumors about this issue. Its been happening to me since I got the 5S at launch day. I got it replaced and it's still happening. I believe it's software related as it mostly happens when I do certain things like multitask.

I too have found that it mostly happens when I am multitasking and closing apps. The diagnostic logs all say springboard. Hoping an update will fix the problem.

I had a 4s that was doing exactly that same thing and I had PANIC.PLIST in the diagnostic log and I had to get it replaced. There is no software fix for PANIC.PLIST's has they are a hardware issue.

A kernel panic is not a direct indication of an hw failure. It could be, but it could be something else.

Not everyone is having this problem and since we're all downloading the same software..
Not everyone is having a problem with iMessages, but for some it is a problem - even though we all download the same software!

When I contacted Apple customer service on the telephone. Pretty much as soon as I mentioned that I had PANIC.PLIST in the log, they said "its a hardware issue and you will need your iPhone replaced".

When I went to my Genius Bar appointment, I got told the exact same thing by the Genius Guy.

Even if it sometimes is a hardware issue, I would want to have my iPhone replaced to rule that possibility out.

My iPhone would randomly reboot at least once a day and when I looked in the diagnostic log, the time of the PANIC.PLIST corresponded to the reboot. I had tried restoring as new but that made no difference.

Hoping that it fixes this.. I'll be doing some heavy multitasking and report back.

At least after 20 mins of really heavy use/multitasking I can report that so far it seems to be fixed. But only long term usage will determine for sure.. Keeping fingers crossed.

My iPhone has started to randomly reboot - a black screen appears with apple logo and then it reboots, quicker than normal, but annoying all the same. Any ideas? Have done a hard reset, but it hasn't cured it.

That's the government installing the new cell tracking software on your phone. #. It happened to me yesterday too.
