Intell just wants to cause an argument. He does this from time to time if you read his posts. Not someone we should give a second thought to. ;)

I guess you're right.

----------

I know, and I agree with you. Not sure what Intell's intentions were here but G does stand for generation, so in a way he was right, but you're way better off actually saying generation rather than G in those regards.

I just think it confuses people is all.

Back on topic the next iPhone will come in Oct.

I like how members will take it upon themselves to rename one of if not the most popular cell phone on the planet.

Even an Apple employee would look at you weird as you are calling a 4S a 5G. Apple calls the iPhone whatever they want to call it, and we can calk the next iPhone whatever we want to call it until its released.

On topic....fall? :)

Animal Names!

Why doesn't Apple use animal names like Mac OS. Instead of big cats, maybe great apes? "Coming June 10 [drum roll]...[screeching trumpets]...the iPhone Bonobo!"

The phone that came out on 10/4/2011 was the iPhone 4S, not the 5G. Please use the correct nomenclature. Apple named it the 4S, we should as well. It's far less confusing.

I'm sorry but what's the iPhone 5G?

it's the iPhone that uses 5G network.. duh.

I am using correct nomenclature. It is the 5th generation iPhone. Thus, iPhone 5G is one its correct names.

The iPhone 5G is the current generation iPhone.

The original poster is correct. Besides the iPhone1,1, iPhone4,1 etc the Apple Store refers to various devices as 1G, 2G, etc for GENERATIONS.

The microphone on my iPhone 4 has gone intermittent and it is a royal pain.

I do not want an iPhone 4S because at this point I could use a larger screen.

I may try to repair the iPhone 4 and use it until the next one is released, if I cannot fix it I will look at something else.

You can always just take it to apple and they should be able to replace it for $150. I refuse to pay the $150 but it seems like you have a worse problem.

I wanted to upgrade this weekend from iPhone 4 to a 4s but my friend who works for a large UK telecoms company told me to wait. They have been told to keep September free for a big Apple launch. So my guess would be late September or October this year.
