I close all my apps too but it makes little, if any, difference to the runtime. Same with switching the supposed battery draining features off. I gain maybe 15 mins more runtime per charge cycle. I of course have almost everything switched off but I'm just saying that these things aren't the culprit. There is something draining my battery which resides much deeper than user settings.

I could see Apple sabotaging the 4 and perhaps 4S but the iPhone 5 too? Mine is only four months old and I'm on a 24 month contract. I am amongst their next wave of customers for the iPhone 6/6S so it would be foolhardy to make me jump ship. I just think they've coded the o/s poorly and haven't tested it fully before release. Extremely shoddy. What infuriates me most is their total silence on the matter. They must know.

The hardware diagnostic may well be fine but the specs on your phone say 10 hours of WiFi web browsing etc and on iOS6 I wasn't far off that, yet with iOS7 I get just over half the stated spec. Same apps as before and all are the current updated versions. The only thing that has changed is the o/s so Apple should look into this further and not palm you off saying that everything is fine when it clearly isn't. I'm particularly bothered that my battery is having to be charged twice as often, which will wear it out twice as quickly. If my runtime is approx 5 hours with a four month old battery, what will it be like towards the end of my 24 month contract??

EXACTLY!! I told them that and I have to charge my phone about 3 times a day which is annoying and they are basically falsely advertising there products bc I never got 10 hours of browsing most I got was like 8h and 39 mins

Yeah, the most I got was 9 hrs but I regularly got 8.5 hrs of runtime. To now get 5.5 if I'm especially lucky is a joke. Half their stated performance!

Which country are you in?
UK here and unless bought direct from Apple it's a carrier issue. All they will do is have me post it to them, scratch it up a bit and then return it with a note saying 'no faults found'...

U.S. They are always refuse unless you talk with an advisor

Yeah, you have a ****** app running in the background and killing your CPU. Remove all your applications.

Lol why would I want to do that? Most of the time battery life is actually fine. That was by far the worst I have ever seen it and rare.

I have the same routine every day. I'm beginning to think that some of the problem may be related to the Sun's activity.

I can tell because your standby time and usage time are the same.

iphone 5 verizon doesnt seem to have battery problems I can get 22 hours standby and like 6-8 hours usage. Oddly enough though the only app I dont use that everyone else does is Facebook or any type of Facebook app, I just dont use them.

That is erroneous.

I'm telling you and you aren't listening.

READ: EVEN AFTER KILLING APPS AND HARD RESETTING, BATTERY LIFE ON IOS 7 IS RANDOM.

You are wrong.

As a developer I can tell you that killing applications doesn't do **** - processes will run regardless of whether or not they are in the 'last used' list.

But believe what you'd like :)

I own the iPhone 5 that i got on Dec. 1 , 2013. Since owning this thing I would drain 1% every 4 to 7 minutes of STANDBY. I've been to the apple store 3 times, they wiped it twice and the third time they set mail to fetch manually. The problem still is happening, the phone drains like crazy in standby.

I've given up on going to the apple store as they won't do nothing because the hardware test says my battery is perfect and so is all the other hardware on the phone.

After messing around with my settings and turning every thing off and doing the draining of the battery til it shuts off I've found one setting that helps to give me normal battery life. If i turn off cellular data I get the battery life I should when the phone is in standby. This is not really a fix more like a band-aid, but at least i can go a day on standby and still have battery left.

It sucks hearing about how everyone else is getting a day or two of standby when i only get half that at most. The crazy part is that when i do have cellular data on I get about 3 to 4 bars and NEVER get 1 or 2 bars. I have Virgin mobile and never had this problem with the Android phones I had in the past.

So I should turn cellular data off

Why doesn't anyone do this?

You restore from the iCloud all your data, apps, etc. Battery life sucks.

Do a factory restore/wipe everything. Without installing anything, what is the battery life? If it's rubbish, you have a dodgy battery. If battery life is really good, obviously something you were using before was causing the problem.

Could be an app not fully iOS7 compatible causing the issue.

I have done that like 3 times restored as new and used it still same problem

Same here. Seven times to be exact.

Me too.

2 restores as new from iCloud
2 restores as new, manually inputted contacts
2 restores done by the Apple store both times setup as new
All 3 times I've been to the apple store they tell me my battery is perfect.

To put things in perspective..... before turning off Cellular data my usage time was 1 hour 6 minutes for usage and 4 hours and 43 mintues for stand by and I would be at 58%. Since turning off Cellular data i'm now at 89% with 42 minutes of usage and 4 hours and 53 mintues of stand by.

The funny part was when i went to the apple store the second time the "head" tech had the same phone as me but he was at 73% with 11 hours of Stand by time and i was at 36% at 11 hours of stand by time. He had nothing off and I had turn off every setting. And it gets better.... I made a appointment but showed up early so i sat at the table waiting for my turn. A guy comes in with a broke ipad mini that he ran over with his car and he had no appointment. They got to the guy with the broken ipad before me and without question gave him a new one. A lady shows up after him with a crack down the screen of her ipad mini and she also had no appointment and they did the same with here, got to her before me and gave her a new ipad. When it was my turn all i got was the head tech arguing with me because i did a restore as new 2 days before hand because my phone was saying it was attached to there macbook airs that the guy used to wipe the first time(iTunes could wirelessly sync with the stores Macbook Air). I leave the store after they wipe it again and left the phone the same way but I added my mail accounts. The third time going to the store the person who helps me says once again my battery is perfect and then sets mail to fetch data manually(was set to fetch every hour before). I leave the store and once again the same problems is still there. The only thing that helps is turning cellular data off.
