So does anyone know exactly how this works if you are able to reserve one? I heard that they email you a confirmation, and then do you have only the next day to pick it up or else the order cancels?

For availability in other stores.. Try this website:

Seems like a lot of stores have Verizon and Sprint phones in stock... May be it helps people who are interested in those carriers.

Cool site. I'll have to use that in the future. I feel like they don't have data for AT&T phones yet because they don't even list them as "out of stock" like they do for other items.

Finally worked but what's the point of having this option when there's none available in any Apple store?

Was able to do a pick up order @ Michigan Ave Apple store in Chicago.

The site and the app both came live at the same time for me. I was able to place my order and I got the confirmation email.

FTR the stores showing stock available before ordering went live were the same stores showing stock now.

Success!!! Just reserved a 32GB black AT&T model from the one Apple Store in Houston that had them!

Just got mine for pickup, Danbury CT 16GB ATT - goodnight everyone, thanks for all the updates.

Is the only way to buy through the iPhone app and not online? I tried to check out online and it won't let me pick up from store. The app will only let me upgrade the current phone I'm on and not add a line.

FWIW, it seems like some places have ample availability and others don't. I checked a few just out of curiosity. Nearly every store in Dallas, for instance, has nearly every model available, and the two biggest NYC stores (Fifth Ave. and SoHo) do as well, but there's practically nothing in the suburban tri-state area (NJ, CT, NY), nor is there much of anything in Texas outside of Dallas. Only the one most out-of-the-way store in Houston -- adjacent to a semi-sketchy area -- had anything, either. No idea why there wouldn't be any AT ALL in an area as large as the greater L.A. region.
