Does anyone know how to make the checkout process faster without having to enter your credit card info which wastes time

Do any of you think that pending the Apple stores were to get stock in on said day that people hanging around in the store would be allowed/informed that the phones are available for purchase? I was under the impression that all phones were being held for the online reservation regardless of them being actually on store premises. Any thoughts....

UPDATE: After calling one of the stores here in AZ I was told that they are holding all phones for the reservation and if they were to not be sold from the 10pm-4am rez system, that walk ins would get a chance to purchase. When I asked regarding if all stores in the PHX area were following this plan I was told yes.

That's good to know because all the AZ stores showed they didn't have anything last night.

I actually stopped in at an ATT store on a whim today and was able to walk out with a black 64GB. I was surprised... Good luck to you all. I tried the reservation system for a couple of days in So Cal and had no luck... It's worth a shot...

Got mine too! Lots of AT&T 32 GBs in white in the NJ area and NYC (as usual for the flagship stores). For all you central/west coasters, the stock is in tonight! Best it's been since I started looking for the AT&T phones on Friday! Best of luck!

this like a joke. apple reserve process is like a game. why would they have 22 country launch without satisfying their customers in the main market?

If they can't handle it on a big scale, then why being greedy and upset customers chasing for a phone every night?

Create an account and store your CC info for one-click checkout or whatever they call it.

correct me if I'm wrong, but no matter express check out or no you still have to type in a contact # for them to call you at and your cc security code?

"We'll send you an email when your order is ready for pickup"

Does that email take a while to send, has anyone gotten there's yet?

Apple Store App - Major Fail

The app failed me completely tonight. Had one in the cart. Had availability in the store 1 mile away. Would not let me log in (and yes the password was correct). Kept getting oops messages, try again.

Went to the website and it worked fine - although the black model I wanted was only available 60 miles away.

Will try again tomorrow but only with the website. The app is NOT reliable.

Apple doesn't make you activate it in store. I picked up some iPhone 4's for my children last night and didn't activate them until I got home. There is also a thread on how to perform the upgrade swap as well.

I was under that impression because they made me do it last year for the 4S. I was told unlike the 4 they HAD to have me do it in store (I think they were trying to keep people from reselling them off shore etc)

Does someone know something that I don't? I've been refreshing the site at 9:55 on the dot till 11 every night for the past 4 days. Nothing. All I get is the "Unavailable for Pickup"

You'll receive a "We Are Ready" e-mail, your time, around 7:15 an - 8:00 am tomorrow.

I decided to eschew Apple this afternoon and just happened to call an ATT store close to home this afternoon. They had 6 black 64GB. This is the model I've been trying for here in Houston the past many nights, only to find nothing each night.

I asked if he could hold one for me. "Of course." He took my name, asked when I thought I'd be able to come in and then gave me his name.

I went about an hour and a half later, added my wife on to ATT to create a mobile share plan, got the 64GB under her name for the subsidized price, had him then swap it to my line and then ported her prepaid TMobile account that she had been using on a factory unlocked 4 to our newly created mobile share plan. I didn't have my wife's 4 with me, so he popped the microSIM into my 4s, verified that the port went through and then activated the 5 on my line.

All in all, took about 15 minutes and the ATT guy couldn't have been nicer or more helpful.

A huge change from Apple, who won't hold a phone for you, won't tell you when or if they have stock and even though they don't do anything for you, they don't do any of it with a huge chip on their shoulders.

F Apple. If anybody here in Houston still can't find anything after tonite's reservation goes online, I suggest trying an ATT store tomorrow.

I have a question for those who have successfully reserved an iPhone 5 online with the intent of paying full price for it when you went into the store. Did the Apple Store worker need the credit card for which you paid for the iPhone present in order to process the refund or did you only need to bring in the receipt? Thanks.

Correct. But you dont have to type in the CC # (thankfully!)

the past 3 nights I have been able to start the check out process and then once everything is submitted it tells me that it's unavailable at the specified store. Definitely expected stores in NYC and NYC boroughs to at least get some shipments but so far i've only seen upper west side grand central and 5th ave.:confused::confused::confused::confused:

Got one finally from Tampa apple store, strange that they didn't have a 32gig in black for AT&T but they have it in white. Whatever, picking it up tomorrow.

Is there any way to use the reservation system to exchange one model for another? I have an AT&T 16GB black that I'd like to exchange for a white model.

This is a long thread...digging through would take forever. Any suggestions?

Just a heads up: If you are near Cincinnati and looking for a 32gb White on AT&T, they still have some in stock right now. I'd get one, but I can't make the drive down from Columbus tonight. Saw that two of the Cleveland area stores had some in stock as well (that are now sold).

Unfortunately I didn't get on early enough to grab one in Columbus tonight, but it is nice to see what it looks like when they are in stock. I'll have to set an alarm for tomorrow :D

Scored a 32 gig ATT white one tonight -- logged in idly at 10:39 or so in Boston!

Previously got a 64 gig black one logging in at 11:57.

The moral is: With my two data points I think they update throughout the night, not just at 10.

NYC! There are 32g white AT&T phones in stock in several stores, get em while they're hot! Me? I decided I'm getting an unlocked phone. Done with AT&T. I called the apple store today and they said the unlocked phones should be available by November and to keep checking the apple website. Good luck everyone!
