iPhone 5 Shipped Thread

Out For Delivery

Mine said out for delivery at 8:18! It's 9:50 now! Still waiting! It says "by noon". I hope it gets here at least by then because I have to be at work at 1!
 
So I was surprised to see that my iPhone5 shipped from China today, 9/21. It looks like the first wave of deliveries for today were shipped on 9/16, meaning that they traveled from China to their destinations in the USA inside of one week (wow!). (I had assumed that all of the first preordered units were already in the US)

By that logic, is it safe to assume that this next group shipped today (9/21) will also arrive inside of a week? (The original delivery promise was October 5th...maybe they were underpromising?)
 
By the way...a coworker just walked in with a new iPhone 5 in black. Totally rediculous! It is so light, and so thin compared with the iPhone 4. Without comparing the two, you wouldn't know it's longer. Quick tour through Apple Maps is no where near as bad as the press makes it out to be. All in all, looks to be a worthwhile upgrade!
 
Augh...

Was just walking back to apartment from class and I see the Fedex truck parked on the street nearby...The driver is just sitting there munching on lunch.

I swear, every time I see a Fedex driver, they are lazy as hell. UPS drivers are so much more proactive in getting the job done fast.

I stood there staring at the Fedex guy for a good 5 minutes and he is not delivering SHEET.

Well UPS and FedEx are a bit different even though they are both a part of the shipping industry.

UPS drivers are union with an hourly wage. It is a very stressful job but pays well if you put in the time. FedEx drivers (most) own their own FedEx trucks and the routes they drive. It is a bit more laid back working environment and if they take on a part time driver the truck driver pays this person out of pocket, not FedEx (from what I can remember when I worked there). I am not sure about the pay but I think it is a small bit less than unionized UPS.
 
Any one in Southbay/Los Angeles

Any one in Southbay (Redondo/Hermosa) know when the Fedex guy is supposed to come around? Debating between waiting for a couple of hours and go to work or pick up later in the evening from Fedex directly...

Appreciate your response.
 
My phone is scheduled for delivery today, but it's not on the UPS truck yet (last activity was a destination scan at my distribution hub)

Located in the Los Angeles area

Will I be getting my phone today?

Ordered it at 4:17am EDT on Sep 14th.

Mine says "By the end of the day". Unfortunatly for me (in a way) mine is getting delivered to my command. Which happens to be inside the worlds largest navy base... I'm not the only one getting a package today. :/

I had the exact same message on UPS this morning. I think it would be amazing if I got it today, but UPS Worldwide Express shows 1-3 business days. I doubt it be delivered on 9/27. I'm sure that's the latest.

I ordered mine around the same time as you on Sept 14 and my status went to Preparing for Shipping last night.

What's your expected arrival date from tracking website?
 
Augh I'm getting antsy. I have a feeling I am going to let a REALLY rude comment slip when the FedEx guy gets here.

I talked to UPS and the expected timeframe for iPhones shipped out of China last night are Wed 9/26 before 10:30am.
 
Fedex said they attempted to deliver today but my family was home all day. Is anyone else having this issue?

Not with the IPhone but with another package from Amazon last week- they claimed they left it by the front door and then after I arranged a refund from Amazon for a "lost shipment", Fedex delivered it the next day. I highly suspect that if it gets late, they call it in as delivered and then deliver it the next day instead!
 
Delivered today at 11:49AM and signed for by my lady neighbor since I was not home. I've restored to it and am using it now. Awesome it is...
 
Oct 5 iPhone went to shipped!!!

I got my black iPhone 5 yesterday, but my wife's white one wasn't supposed to ship until Oct. 5. I got the email this morning that her phone has now shipped. Anyone seeing that as well?
 
I had one of the October 5th delivery dates and just got my tracking number today. It should be here in a few days. Can't wait.
