iPhone 5 Shipping in September with Faster Processor, Similar Look

Does apple like being the company using ancient tech
In tech years this new iPhone 5 will be old as dirt when it is released. It is no faster then the phones that being released two months ago and it will compete with the ones 5 months from now? Seems like apple needs to Aim alot higher on their hardware.

the iOS rly needs a revamp, its getting really boring and dated after owning 3 generations. where r the damn widgets still and what use does lockscreen have if u cant add anything (jailbreak excluded)
oh and get rid of that glass back ... what fool thought its a good idea. mine is sooo scratched but at least not yet shattered like so many others ik
next phone might be a android after all

I was so excited waiting for iPhone 4S (let's just call it that) I sold my iPhone 4, for an Android & found myself wanting my iPhone 4 back seemed silly to splash out on cash for a phone that would be updated. My android was doing my head in, & having heard the rumors that the new iPhone wouldn't be out till later than usual, I decided to just pass on iPhone this year
I will be keeping an eye on iOS & the iPhone I can't wait to see the new iPhone and iOS 5, but iPhone 2012 and iOS 6 is where it is for me so excited It'll be 2 Major OS updates worth & a whole new design (i hope )

It doesn't sound like there's much there to tempt iPhone 4 owners but it should be a great update for those with the 3GS and 3G.
Indeed, I agree. I hope form factor stay the same as now since I have 4 bumpers, I will gift iPhone and a pink bumper to my girl. iPhone 4 is awesome it doesn't need a big revamp now... Sure more power always the better but I think users (me too) pretend too much nowadays.
£499 for a white iPhone 5 and you can count me in, again. I've just sold my iPhone 4.

LOL! Sorry... not just laughing at you, but these are all pretty vague rumors so far so we have no idea what's really going to be there.
Besides things like faster processors, upgraded cameras, more RAM, 4G, and/or RFID what the heck else can you pack into a phone that isn't addressed at the software level?
However... with that said, I did also hear from the neighbor of a friend that has a friend that works for a supplier that makes the buttons on the iPhone that the new iPhone will definitely have buttons.
It could include HSPA+ capabilities (which, really, will be the 4G standard until LTE is rolled out in most locations, but iPhone 6 will be out when that is the case regardless of what carrier you're on).
Obviously, Verizon customers would be SOL if HSPA+ was the only 4G option since there's no similar technology for the VZW network.

I dont agree. A 4" screen would be larger real estate, but that would mean developers would have to rewrite their apps to fit the new size. For example, the iPad has an obviously larger screen space, which means that developers had to scale their software up to match, because lets face it, the 2x button just makes things look like pixels and thats just awful, this is not SNES system.
But the iPad has similar dimensions and screen ratio. But a 4" display would makes things look stretched, so developers would have to code each app to fit the new stretched screen. This would also be quite annoying on the app store, looking for apps which work on 3g, 3gs, i4 and i5 and iPad and iPad 2. It would just become a nuisance to download an app to see its stretched on older phones. this wouldn't be a good move by apple just yet. Apple like to care for older tech users, the 3g and 3gs users, and this larger screen would make apps not run as smoothly.

iPhone 2: Apple needed to make sure that its customer base knew that this phone was 3g so they adopted the name Iphone 3g. Imagine saying Iphone 2 with 3g. Most customers would have ignored the end and not known about the 3g's importance.
iPhone 3: Apple had could have named it the 3 but then many of its customers not being tech savy in the least way would scream bloody murder they took off the 3g.
iPhone 4: Apple had a good chance now to begin to use the naming system. It proved to be a good chance to name it the iPhone 4. Really? Wait. I'll close my eyes and wave my hand and say it'll have a nice screen with it. Might be bigger. But not decided yet. Oh... And it'll look nice! And not too different so to scare away people who likes things the same.... *sigh*

Make it LARGER. Just a little. Give it a 4in screen. Oh and look... Now you have room for that larger battery and bigger CPU and camera.
I BET you if Apple released two TOP END models.
1) Same form factor. But with new CPU only. and 32gb memory to keep the same form factor.

2) Another with the same CPU but with 4in screen, larger battery, better camera,and 64gb memory. Of course a bit heavier.
I bet #2 would sell 3:1... Those who is willing to pay that high price of the 32GB model would be the same group of people willing to get the extras. If not for the screen size, then for the battery or better camera. Would I pay $150 more? Yes.

I am happy for this, this means when my upgrade happens, iPhone 6 will be a HUGE one
The only problem is now your upgrade will be more than the 2 year mark if they decide to bump the iPhone refresh cycle to the fall.
Not that "I like things the same", but I do like the size of the iPhone. I have no desire to have a larger iPhone or any smart phone.
Also, I have to agree with the other poster, Apples not going to mess with the screen size if it requires developers to rewrite Apps to be compatible. It's just not worth it.
If you only buy products based on who has the most check marks on their feature list or hardware spec, don't buy an iPhone, and don't buy a Mac. That's not what Apple is all about. Besides... the iPhone4 has an amazing screen now. So much better than others. The way I look at it is, "screen solved" move on to other features that are more important. More RAM, more storage options, continued better battery (although the current battery life is great for me and I use my phone all day long), and things such as this.
You know, within a couple years all the smart phones will all have about the same hardware specs... only so much you can put in there, or even need to put in there. So what will differentiate them them? How well they work, the depth of the content and how well they're supported. Features often overlooked on the spec sheet.

Have you ever tried to run any iPhone apps on the iPad? Have you not noticed that what they scale down to is a size larger than the iPhone's current 3.5" size? Not sure why Apple chose a size slightly larger than 3.5" but none the less they scale just fine.

The edge-to-edge concept is what we likely will get BUT its not the SCREEN that getting LARGER ... its the PHONE that getting SMALLER ...
the iPhone 5 will likely keep the same screen size but the acual phone and the beziel will get smaller ... there are more non-geeks out there who think that iPhone is to LARGE and incressing its size is not the way to go ...
